I understand to apoint what the gentleman is saying about Greatwide and having to know someone to make anything. He is right. Some guys run 4 days a week and bring home 1400 to 2k a week while others work 7 and can't make 1200. I know they push us harder than they are suppose to. It is a very do as I say until I need you to do something illegal.. Then it is run run run. But greatwide is a trucking company what do you expect.

Ok I found out what this is about.. When go into the office now to pick up our paperwork they ask us if we have has either a 34 hour or 10 hour break.. Then they ask if we have enough time to run the load legal.. Then they ask if we have had enough rest.. If we say no to any of those we lose the load.

Last week (rumors) Greatwide had 5 rollovers fleetwide.. 1 of those was a fatallity.. I assume it was this gentlemans friend.

I called the Greatwide office in Oklahoma City about leasing on, said I could be home every night. When I called the first thing the gal asked was if I had a truck payment (what does that have to do with anything) she said about everyone has their truck paid for and doesn't run hard and you can expect to bring home a $1,000 a week after fuel. No thanks. Everytime I see a Greatwide owner operator I want to ask when was the last time he ate or if he needs $10 to get something to eat. What a shame, add Greatwide to the bottom feeders. I would be a shame to have their name on the side of my truck.

I have seen a lot of companies go bad.Once they start they almost always get worse.Cash flow seems to be a problem they all get. It's easier to take it from drivers than ask for a rate increase. If you sense your company is headed that way make a change.I am guilty of trying to hang on too long several times, and it has cost me a lot of money.good luck

1 - paying current fuel surcharges based on on yard fuel not national average.
*this is just wrong, it should be national average
2 - taking percentage of stop pay

*this is normal, they do need to make money too
3 - charging for installation of THEIR equipment - qualcom
*a little unusual, if you terminate early then charging to remove it seems more fair.
4 - refusing to show what loads actually pay
*none of your business what a load pays, if it pays $1.50 per mile going one place it may only pay $1.00 a mile to get out of the area. You still get paid the same.
5 - shorting miles on loads
*what did your contract say as far as what software they use for mileage pay?
6 - routing loads on bad roads, roads that don't exsist...etc.
*i have access to several software programs and roads that don't exsist is an oxymoron. If there was never a road it would not be on the software.
7 - not paying actual detention time
*that is customer contract determined - some customers will not pay detention, some will only pay so much after so many hours. If they flat rated you on detention, they are wrong to not pay you for all of it.
8 - making sure dispatcher-owned trucks dispatched first
*completely wrong - I asked my company if I could put on two 2006 Kenworths that I was thinking of purchasing. Management said "no way" because it would create too much rumor of favoritism.
9 - putting certain Drivers out of service for tires still DOT legal - while letting other Drivers run slick tires AFTER notifing management several times.
*just plain wrong, and a serious safety concern
10 - constantly monitor paycheck for unauthorized deductions and shortages.
*this is bad, payroll should be 100% accurate or as close to it as possible.
11 - deducting for tag and heavy use tax months in advance.
*this is the company living off your money and it's wrong.

Oh, and the biggest thing is in the last few weeks only working every other day and not knowning at all when your going to be called for a load. Meaning that you could get up in the morning and not get called til that afternoon for a load that may not be ready until 10pm to 12 pm or later.
*THE ECONOMY IS NOT DOING VERY WELL, AND THINGS ARE GOING SOUTH FOR YOUR COMPANY

I don't know GreatWide. I took notice to them about a year or so back. What I noticed is alot of beat up trucks and terrible drivers. That speaks alot of what they attract.

REGARDLESS OF THE ECONOMY, NO ONE HAS A RIGHT TO DEGRADE YOU IN YOUR WORKPLACE BECAUSE OF YOUR RACE, GENDER, OR RELIGION!! If you can't get anywhere with HR, contact the US EEOC. They will start an investigation into the company as long as you are willing to follow through with the claim. That is really a sad situation. I am a woman and have been driving almost 15 years. I had to use the discrimination/ harrassment only 1 time in all these years. It's just not right for a company to do that! Even if those are their personal feelings, they HAVE TO LEAVE IT AT HOME!
