my input on US Express

Hey Folks, i just need to vent here about this " great company " ( haha), I am not a CDL holder just yet, infact i am still in school and have just over a month left till graduation, its a 6 month course, and once or twice a month we get this nasty reqruiter come in from US Ex and he re-reads his EXACT script EVERYTIME!, we dont have a choice, i have to sit through his " show " everytime he comes to us. My problem is that this guys tells us the EXACT SAME THING EVERYTIME, all the statistics are ALWAYS THE SAME!!, i no more about that company then he does, i was throwing actual facts at him about his own company, he tells us that for a new driver we can expect to run about 2250 miles a week, straight out of school. however, i do major research on the company, this forum, and many others, and i read ALL THE TIME, that vet drivers, and driver that have been with the company for a long long long time are struggling to pull 1,200 a week if they are lucky, so i told him that, and you could just about see the lumps building up in his pants he was scared of what fact i just gave him, i understand the econemy is slowing down a bit, but i have read enough in the internet that most trucking companies are having hard times running driver 2000+ a week, and im not talking about O/O or Teams.
This guy said he would never tell people to come work for him if they were only pulling 1100+- a week,
i told him to do research on his own company and then talk to us,
im sorry, but im tired of being a sitting duck with this P.O.S of a person who yells and throws stuff at us, and yes, he really did do that, and to me, first impression is EVERYTHING, and all thanks to this guy i will be sure never ever ever recomend this company to anyone,
like i said, just my input, im sure most would agree

Smiley 1 USX

I like when someones not afraid to ask hard ?'s. I just got a call in the last hour from a USX recruiter asking if I want to come to work for them. I asked her about the long waits after orientation. She said the average is 1 week. I asked her about the postings here and she knew about them and said they were most likely the trainee's fault. !!!
Surprise surprise...
I told her I would call her back.

The Trainees fault!?!?!?!? oh come on!!! look, us as nebie's to companies have no idea what to do next, specialy when dealing with a huge company liks USX and Werner etc.. please!!! this scum bag that was at school today comes in, knowing that he is talking to NEWBIES that know NOTHING about trucking, and trying to get by on us with " WERE THE BEST YOU NO WHY!?!? " until he runs into to students like myself that actualy do research and homework on companies, dang, a few times i asked him about the STATS on the company, he gave me some line of B.S and i threw it right back at him. i dont care anymore, im not going to let someone come in and screw me, or any of my classmates over. I told to cailm down by an instructor cause " i had him pinned in a corner " well tuff shitakie. he has a representitive should know what all the facts are about the company he is representing im ticked!!!! im glad a site like this, and many many others are available for research,

Kicked out of school

Just be careful your not kicked out of school. I used to drive otr 20 years ago and lost my license for not paying a couple of tickets-lots of trouble over that, Lost car, truck, bike + jail and fines. all told about $15,000.00 and 3 years of my life, only 10 days in jail, anyway I am just starting to get back in it and already having been there-done- that I am having a hard time keeping my mouth shut over the BULL & COW S***T they try to lay on ya. By the way what kind of School are you going to that takes 6 mo to Finnish?

I go to All State Career School in Pa. its 6 months of training, 480 hours, and its an accredited course, honstly, mostly all companies prefer at least 160-180 hours, its a way for me to throw away $9,000 cause i have nothing better to do with it.....

I just dont understand why this bunghole would come into the school talking to us, telling us the facts and the whole 9 yrds about this company, and he dosnt even know the ACTUAL STATS.... how can he be so dum to do that? i no why! cause he came into SCHOOL, where he THINKS people DONT KNOW ABOUT TRUCKING COMPANIES, and tries to pull a fast one on people like myself, as I WAS GIVING HIM ACTUAL FACTS about the company, you could leteratly see his light blue shirt start to turn to a dark WET blue under his arms. yeah yeah yeah, i no he is trying to make an " HONEST?" living, but COME! ON! when resurces are soo available such as this forum, plus the x-amout of others, PLUS THE USX DRIVER I NO PERSONELY KNOW!, and of course he doesnt no that, but dang did i shut him up!!
what im gettin at is he has been there, countles times since i have been there, and E-V-R-Y--T-I-M-E-!-!-! his SCRIPT, as i like to call it is always the same!, he says he can gaurentee us " 2250 miles A WEEK ", and he is looking forword to the company hiring " 300!!!!!!!!!! ***TEAM DRIVER*** , so i guess my miles just went from 2250 down to maybe 1,000? and im SOLO??? what the heck do you call that!?!?!?!?
ask him about the healt insu. and he will tell you about his WIFE's insu. from a completly different company!?!?!? ask him questions on Rider/Pet Policy, he'll tell you to call and ask, ask him about the Home Time, he'll tell you to call and ask, ask him about Loading/Unloading. again he will tell you to call!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? what Recruiter tells you to call, why the frank should i HAVE TO CALL ANYWHERE WHEN YOUR STANDING RIGHT IN-FRONT OF ME REPRESENTING YOUR COMPANY......shitakie! im calling to complain about him!!! iv had it one to many times with this clown!!!!! ( Recruiter)

go into this with the thought ALL RECRUITERS LIE their only job is to put butts in seats, if you find an honest one it will be rare but let us know if you do and watch the stampede to that companies door

Like i said, im in school 6 months, i have 4 weeks left, and i have sat through oooo roughly 30 reqruits. 25 of them start off with, " im here to be honst with you, you really shouldnt work with us if xxxxx and if you are looking for xxxxx and you really shouldnt work for us because xxxxx etc." but this guy, this guy is on such a rutien! its disgusting! Roehl, and TMC, 2 of my fav companies, i may not be a trucker yet, but boy ill tell you this much, i live on the computer, and the amount of Facts and STATs i find on the internet about these companies are truely amazing, and 99.999% of the time are very true after futher " investagation". but this guy comes nowhere close to even getting most of the majot facts right about his own company, its horriable i tell ya horriable!! i would never work for them, ever, dont forget this is only MY OPINION, not OUR's not YOURs, but stictly mine, and i no MANY AGREE, its just madining, cause a few students actualy chose to go work with them, some cause " it sounds good to me" the say, and others cause " its the only company that would hire me " and it sucks cause they dont no the truth like i do, somewhat, but i def have a good idea of how they work.
sorry folks, just a lil agitated

I drove for USX from 1998 to 2005 as a OTR, Regional, and my last year as a local driver.

The first 4 years I was a 3000+ mile a week driver and when I went regional it dropped to around 2800 which I expected but then they went to giving my miles to the rails. I can not tell you how much I had to beg and threaten and run up my phone bill to get miles and home after they started putting freight on the rails. They even gave everyone a 3-5 cent a mile raise which still could not make up for going from doing 8-10 loads a month for 2800 to 3500 a week to doing 15-20 loads a month 2000 to 2800 miles a week the last 1.5 years I drove OTR there.

The only reason they gave me a local job was because I was on my way to the old SLC terminal to turn in my truck because I was fed-up with working my butt off to get 96k miles my last year there which is 8,700 a month average when you figure in home time. Thats less then 2,200 a week yet I was doing twice the work. Why? Because they gave teams and contractors not only team runs but just about any run that was not going to or from a rail yard.

Just ask a JBH drayage driver how many miles they do each week and that is what you can count on at USX as a Solo. I once did 10 loads in a row one week with NONE over 200 miles from PU to Del.

I once finally got a load from the west coast to New Jersey one winter as a regional driver just to get some kind of miles and they had me work for a week there because dozens of USX drivers were refusing to run anymore rail frt from Jersey city to the rails in Philly till they got them miles. They paid me $100 a load for around $2,900 which I made them load on my card after each run because you can not trust anything they promise you as a driver, trust me.

You want to drive OTR? Take the advise of someone who has been there and done it. NEVER WORK FOR A COMPANY THAT HAS LOTS OF RAIL FREIGHT AND LOTS OF TEAMS if you wan to make money as a solo driver.
