Considering MAY TRUCKING COMPANY? Think again.

MAY TRUCKING COMPANY charges you to idle your truck. The qualcomm keeps up with the idle time. If the idle time exceeds 10% of the total truck running time, you will be charged. You will see charges on your pay stub when you get your mail, and they wont tell you when the idle charges were applied, you just accept it.

MAY TRUCKING COMPANY does not allow the driver to have any input in the route plan. YOU WILL STICK TO THE ROUTE THEY GIVE YOU. If you ask to vary the route in any way, the answer will be no. They hand feed you FUEL STOPS so you will stay on the route. For instance, if you go to a pilot where you filled up on your last run, if they didn't tell you to fill up there on the the current run, your COMDATA card will not work.

You have to get a purchase order number for a SCALE.

If you have to call breakdown and their line is busy, they have contracted with an answering service in Pakistan and you will talk to somebody who doesn't understand much English.

MAY TRUCKING COMPANY says they will pay layovers and breakdown time, BUT you'd sooner pull their teeth out than get layover or breakdown pay out of their pocket.

MAY TRUCKING COMPANY ignores toll receipts you send them. They owe me $325 for tolls on four east coast trips. The Payroll department personnel are rude to drivers. They treat you like your are stupid, they don't let you complete a thought when you are trying to explain so you can get your money.

MAY TRUCKING COMPANY has a compliance dept that will fire you if your logs are not accurate, but they back the driver manager when he wants you to log being in the sleeper when you have one of those 10 hour waits at a shipper or receiver, waiting on them to call you on the CB to back to a door or waiting to be unloaded and dealing with lumpers, so you can pick up the next load after you have driven all night. If your log is inaccurate your fired, but If THEY want you to log sleeper time when you haven't slept, you better say YES SIR!

MAY TRUCKING does not mind wasting a driver's time. They DEMAND the driver to do so much UNPAID work for them.

In the spring and summer, you will pick up nursery plant loads in Oregon and you will have 15 deliveries and you get paid $15 dollars a stop, and you must drag all the potted trees (and there will be HUNDREDS) to the tail of the truck at every stop and you will be in PAIN after you are done dragging every 5 gallon pot of dirt and tree to to the doors of your 53 foot trailer. When you are empty, you will get $75 for unloading the truck! They will sched all the stops for one day! (it'll take you 5 days!)

May trucking has only ONE TERMINAL EAST OF THE ROCKIES and it is in Pensacola Florida, and IT HAS NO MAINTENANCE SHOP. If your truck needs work, you got to be routed to WEST OF THE ROCKIES. The maintenance facilities are in Brooks Oregon, Payette Idaho and Layton Utah.

MAY TRUCKING COMPANY tries to be efficient with their spending, but it seems like they will spend $1000 to save a DIME instead of using common sense.

LIVE ON THE EAST COAST OR SOUTHEAST? When you come off hometime, they will send you to California and you will go to LA, then San Diego, then San Francisco, then San Jose, Then Sacramento, then Fontana, then LA, then San Francisco, then San Diego , THEN YOU WILL SCREAM BLOODY MURDER TO GET OUT OF CALIFORNIA BECAUSE YOU AREN"T MAKING ANY MONEY because they are short tripping you all over California letting you do their California local work.

There's worse trucking companies out there, BUT NOT MUCH WORSE.

The threads and posts were all merged to save bandwidth. One on the subject is enough.

Hmm, I see May Trucking all the time here (Beaver Falls, PA). I thought they might have something dedicated here, but, after reading this, I won't bother to even call them! Thank God for a site like this!

If you are going to base your decision to go to any Company on one post, you will never find a job.

There is good and bad about every Company that operates Trucks, you just need to do more research, find a fit for you and what you want to do, don't listen to one person, if you do a search for May Trucking, there is also good about them, and all others, don't just accept the first negitive.

Negitive People are the 10%ers, they will always be there and if that is what you are looking for, you will find them.

Let's see here...

On one hand we have a disgruntled 2-yr driver. On the other hand, I know two drivers with 20+ yrs who think May is slicker than greased snot...

Who do I believe and take advice to heart from???

Hmmm... I bet you, like I, didn't have to ponder too long on that one.

What I'm sayin' here... take the good and the bad w/ a grain of salt.

Like TruckerTwoTimes says, "I've seen every shade of pasture there is in the trucking industry."

Yes, you are right about doing a search on May Trucking and finding alot of good about them. G'head... do it. Its all written by MAY. Somebody over there knows they have to put new recent stuff in to BURY the old truth on the search engines' lists. Keep going backwards and you will find the old posts from other ex-May drivers.

I was just replying to another guy's question about May. I work for CRETE CARRIER. I get more money and they don't give me any problems. They don't charge me to idle my truck and they pay all my receipts and pay layover and breakdown. I've been with them for 4 months now and am happy.

FYI, i just started w/ MAY last month, and i am very pleased with the company!

for training & entry level drivers they pay the most that i have found.

they do have business in the west & NW, and that was fine with me as i wanted to see that part of the country!

i have had no problems getting tolls, scales, chains, loaded on my card.

breakdown was able to help me when i needed them, no answering svr. for me!

the shortest trip planned on me was to get me home, so that was'nt a problem.

routing has been the most efficient ways to get to the consignee in my experience.

i have NO problem recommending this company to any drivers considering them as a propective employer!!

i'm sorry your exp. with May was not a harmonious coupling. G/L with crete and all your future loads..

Bigray
