I have been driving for 25 years now, I been with first fleet for 2 years now...dont drive for them, one of the worst companys out there...They start you off at .32cpm after the first year you will be up to .35 so they say which is a lie...No matter how much experience you have you start off at .32cpm... First 6 months they give u 3000 or better miles, now there trying to cut your miles to 2100 to 2500 and thats it...CHEAP PAY, NO MILES, NO PAID HOLIDAYS, NO STOP PAY, all around they are a lying company... Since the 2 years i have been here...THey hired over 100 drivers, and 150 quit..and i will be one of them...

    WORST COMPANY OUT THERE

FIRST FLEET INC, BIG RED VOLVOS with GREY trailers....LOOKS LIKE AVERRIT EXPRESS, WHICH I BELIEVE THEY OWN FIRST FLEET....

My pops want me to post this....He has been with them...He just wanted to warn all other fellow drivers about this RIP OFF COMPANY

So do you drive for them or does your "pops"? If it is you and your "pops" and they were so bad, in his opinion, why did you sign on with them? It is interesting that they have been around for awhile and no comments like this and then a post like this shows up. Why don't you give us more details about what you or your "pops" did to cause the miles to drop off? If you have been driving for 25 years and with First Fleet for 2 years, how are you a "student"?

READ IT AGAIN DUDE....I SAID MY DAD DRIVES FOR THEM I DONT....NOT MANY PEOPLE HEARD OF FIRST FLEET THEY ARE SMALL...and the reason the miles are dropping is because they are losing there accounts....believe it or not but schneider prolly pays better than first fleet. NEXT TIME your out on the road talk to some of there drivers if u see them out there.......and they havent been around but 15 years...there small...they pay cheap...35cpm and your topped out....Most of the companies are paying alot better...The accounts they had schneider came in and jb came in and will haul it cheaper so they said later to first fleet...

I have driven for FirstFleet since Oct. 1988. They have been around since June 1987 which is a few years more than 15. They were a sister company to Averitt Express at one time but no longer. The account I pull for pays me 36.5 cents a mile + drop pay + layover pay for picking up backhauls. Not like other companies that have you pick up a load on Friday at noon and drive till 7:00 that evening and then have to wait without pay until Monday to deliver. We also get holiday pay...if you work on the holiday and have many other benefits. We have over 1600 trucks nationwide with 36 terminals. It is a pretty good company to work for...unless you aren't much of a driver and they let you go for accidents or log violations. Oh, and by the way, our turn over rate is about 24%. We even hired drivers and added new terminals during the dry years recently! Not very many companies can boast of that. I make a good living and am home three times a week. What more would you ask for?

I live right across the river from you. I never heard anything bad about them. I never heard anything good either. I just know there's a terminal in Cleveland. But not hearing anything bad is a good thing. :biggrin_25517:
But, 22 years of dedicated service and that's all they pay you? You should be making at a minimum of .38 for your experience and time. That's one thing I like about trucking companies and they all do it. They top you out after five years like inflation stops or something. Has your income increased in the past 10 years?

My income has increased over the years and I make a good living doing what I do. When you take the mileage pay and then add the stop pay and layover pay it adds up to a pretty good paycheck every week. Just for an expample, we have runs that you can leave on Tuesday morning...deliver 4 stores Tuesday afternoon...take your 10 hour break and drive to a DC and pick up another load (pays 10.50 drop and hook) drive 3 hours and deliver on an average two stores...then drive as far as you can before you hit your 11 and take another 10 hour break which is a paid 10 hour break (paid for sleeping) and then get up and drive to the yard. You will get back around noon Thursday. The run will pay in the neighborhood of $750.00. Not bad for 2 1/2 days work! If I didn't have other things going on in my life right now I could legally run two of those a week... out Tuesday morning back home Thursday afternoon...home till Saturday morning and back Monday afternoon. $1500.00 a week! Not bad if you wanted to run that hard. Of course I have the senority to be able to run like that and not all of our runs are like that by no means but you can average between 150 and 200 a day easy and be home everyday or every-other day. We have drivers that have been here since the beginning...June '87. That is 25 years this June so if it is such a bad company how could that happen? Some drivers can't cut it (a lot of our business is in-city-delivery) and quit...some have accidents or mutiple moving violations and are termed...but we have a really low turn over rate for the industry and that speaks for itself. Real steady work, benefits, holiday pay, and good pay rate, and most of all...great home time! Works for me!

I've never seen anything bad about this company. It sure sounds like someone either did something dumb to get on mgt's bad side or just doesn't like to work. Wants a paycheck with no work. They are one of the few companies anymore that have a very good reputation.
