Been there, done that. I too made the mistake of signing on with Mcleod express. The first time they tried to run me illegal, and I told them I didn't have enough hours to make the run, it went down hill. Didn't get my guaranteed 850.00 that week, why? because I refused a load. hmmm. In the 22 years of driving, but not having too many jobs to compare them with, I have to say Mcleod Express is the worst company I have ever worked for. Can't call them, they never answer phone, qualcom takes an hour or more to get a response, dispatcher was a BIG time liar. This was the first company I ever had an orientation with. I couldn't help but laugh at some of the stupid crap they tell these drivers. I asked them twice to get me back to Decatur so I could turn in my truck, and call it quits, big mistake there. The first time I let Jason talk me out of it, with promises it would get better, it only got worse. If they get you into the windy, you can count on delivering dropped trailers, for a straight $25.00, doesn't matter how long it takes, that's all you're going to get for it. I could go on and on, poor maintenance, poor dispatch, Dispatchers that are tired of dealing with drivers, Safety director that was downright rude.
STAY away from Mcleod!

I have to agree with you. This is my last week and it will be interesting to see if they route the truck back to Decatur. I am still waiting for them to acknowledge my notice that was qualcommed both last Monday and Tuesday. I have the information from both transmissions to protect myself.

My dispatcher is/was Josh and I have to say his attitude is that God answers to him. His code for driving illegal is "drive at night", he forced me to drive at night last week and then every single day tried to dispatch me on loads that picked up and or delivered during my break. My truck has a major coolant leak from the head gasket and he will not route the truck through the shop, "That's their problem." I am regional and his statement is that he doesn't care he's only interested in money. He won't take a crappy load just to get a driver home.

I could go on and on but if you are looking for a company to work for, avoid McLeod. After the hype of their recruiters faded away and the truth became evident, I asked them to give me a reason to not quit and they were left speechless.

I worked for them too, lasted about 4 months and quit... as well as had Josh as my dispatcher. I have nothing good to say about him. We went at it on a regular basis on several topics. The events that led to me calling and telling them I was returning my truck, was the first time Ive ever seen "red."

Knowing I was bringing the truck back, Josh had told me to swing in so he could talk to me. Knowing my state of mind (which im far from a violent or angry person) I made sure to park the truck at the truckstop next door and wait for my mother and father to drive down from the Toledo, Ohio area to come pick me up. I wasn't about to walk in that building other than to hand the keys to the shop.

I tried to work things out with those people many many times, at some point you just have to give their truck back, because its obvious that they don't care.

Their recruiter had called me several months back, very nice guy it seems, knowing that I had worked for them in the past. I had asked if Josh was still there dispatching, which the answer was yes at the time.. I told the recruiter that when he was fired, I'd consider coming back, and hung up the phone.
