Been there, done that. I too made the mistake of signing on with Mcleod express. The first time they tried to run me illegal, and I told them I didn't have enough hours to make the run, it went down hill. Didn't get my guaranteed 850.00 that week, why? because I refused a load. hmmm. In the 22 years of driving, but not having too many jobs to compare them with, I have to say Mcleod Express is the worst company I have ever worked for. Can't call them, they never answer phone, qualcom takes an hour or more to get a response, dispatcher was a BIG time liar. This was the first company I ever had an orientation with. I couldn't help but laugh at some of the stupid crap they tell these drivers. I asked them twice to get me back to Decatur so I could turn in my truck, and call it quits, big mistake there. The first time I let Jason talk me out of it, with promises it would get better, it only got worse. If they get you into the windy, you can count on delivering dropped trailers, for a straight $25.00, doesn't matter how long it takes, that's all you're going to get for it. I could go on and on, poor maintenance, poor dispatch, Dispatchers that are tired of dealing with drivers, Safety director that was downright rude. STAY away from Mcleod!

I worked for them too, lasted about 4 months and quit... as well as had Josh as my dispatcher. I have nothing good to say about him. We went at it on a regular basis on several topics. The events that led to me calling and telling them I was returning my truck, was the first time Ive ever seen "red." Knowing I was bringing the truck back, Josh had told me to swing in so he could talk to me. Knowing my state of mind (which im far from a violent or angry person) I made sure to park the truck at the truckstop next door and wait for my mother and father to drive down from the Toledo, Ohio area to come pick me up. I wasn't about to walk in that building other than to hand the keys to the shop. I tried to work things out with those people many many times, at some point you just have to give their truck back, because its obvious that they don't care. Their recruiter had called me several months back, very nice guy it seems, knowing that I had worked for them in the past. I had asked if Josh was still there dispatching, which the answer was yes at the time.. I told the recruiter that when he was fired, I'd consider coming back, and hung up the phone.

Mcleod Express I have worked for Mcleod since last August and after almost a decade in the industry as a driver, I expected the ususal outright lies from the recruiters and in orientation. What I did NOT expect and has NEVER happen to me before was to be robbed! They blatently STOLE money from me, right out of my check and then told me face to face that I had not filled out my paperwork correctly KNOWING that I had been filling out my paperwork the same way for weeks. NO call or warning about incorrect paperwork, just a $300 short check TWO WEEKS BEFORE CHRISTMAS! AND $120 SHORT CHECK 1 MONTH LATER! They KNOW it's outright theft! They KNOW they are lying about why and they have since done it to two more drivers who have been with them for years! The president of Mcleod was fired from his previous position for sexual harrasment-this I know for FACT- and has been welcomed at Mcleod with open arms. The local drivers contact in payroll, Stephanie, has ZERO compunction about stealing and/or lying to ANYONE and she willingly does it face to face with an air of superiority second to none. Lying to drivers seems to be a prerequisite in the trucking industry but Mcleod puts a premium on lying with a holier than thou attitude. At this TRUCKING company you are NEVER left with any doubt that as a driver EVERYONE NOT a driver is your better. It is theirs to decide if you have earned what you are owed and what percentage of it you should be paid. Legality & morality do NOT exist at Mcleod Express.

Mcleod Crooks Agreed 100% I saw Calans latest thread to this and had to express my concern and sadness for what Mcleod stole from him. Its sad that this Industry has developed into these scumbag companies who turn over drivers like a man with the runs uses toilet paper! My experience with Mcleod was basicaly the same, except I saw through them before they took me for a whole lot, I had a bad feel when I left orientation, and it proved correcet I dumped them very soon after. Ive driven for 15 years, and at the end of last year I decided to start branching out into other Industries, all in all I have 20 years in trucking starting on the docks for Overnight Transportation in the late 80's and spending the last 15 behind the wheel, I became so frustrated over the last few years, I experienced theft just as Calan did by many many OTR trucking companies, and it seems that is all the jobs you can get anymore. As a result I am persuing an associate degree in welding fabrication where I can make some real money and get paid for everything I do, If guys were smart they would do like wise at least until these dirtbags realize guys wont stand for being stolen from and cheated! Calan Im sincerely sorry to hear what happened to you at Mcleod, but hopefully we will prevent someone else from falling into thier twisted web of crap!

One more story....started in november 08 for mcleod. they lied not only about usual things, like miles and average pay, but dumb things like appt. times and hours. I would be told to get somewhere by 4, only to find i had a 2 appt, and be told to come back the next day! I didnt care because the guarantee was $800.00 a week, so as long as the screw ups were mcleods, which they were everysingle time, i got paid. my avg. mileage was 1200 a week, i would get a 200 mi run, do it, and have to sit till the next day to unload and get a 150 mile run or something, that went on every day. i spent almost every day sitting in truckstops for hours.during the weeks of christmas and new years there is no guarantee. i had to deliver in chicago, 6 hrs from my hopuse, at 9am monday am. delivered, got a load 9 miles away that i delivered a mile away (for a total of 10 paid miles), then had to wait until 6 am the next day to get my next load. i was furious, told me dispatcher (channing) that i wanted to take the next 2 weeks off because i wasn't working for free, he said he was fine with that but since i would be off that long i had to turn my truck in and get another one when i came back. i did so, rented a car out of my own pocket, and drove home. I called them january 2nd they said they did away with the guarantee for new hires, and since i had been gone for 2 weeks(with permission), i wouild have to come back as a re-hire. that is the day we parted ways.

Wow, My brother-in-law just went to work for them and was trying to get my husband to go there. I guess fortunately they didn't hire him because he had not driven in the last 90 days. He just got his medical card back because he had been on insulin and couldn't get a Dr. to help him with his waiver. Maybe that wasn't such a bad thing that they didn't hire him.....
