| My buddy told me about them. I called up the recruiter a few weeks ago just to check if my buddy was delusional or not. I'm asking about the miles an average driver gets, and how many miles and what my pay would be as an experienced driver. Some guy tells me, "well, we'll start you off at 2200 miles a week, and if we see you do good, will bump you up a few hundred." Me: 2200? ![]() Guy, I get average of 3400 miles a week, and the most i've put in was 3800.. He then goes on bashing me saying i'm a cheater and they do not allow cheaters on their very successful team of safe and courteous drivers.. *click* I don't know how many of you gets lower than 2800 miles a week on this board, but if you do, I suggest you stop taking 20hr sleeper breaks LOL. Seriously though, what a terrible recruiter.

| Word of advice, get out of the company thats not giving you miles!!! Mind you, I'm all long haul. My loads are 1700-2200 mile runs almost all the time. Took me 4 days to do a 2500 mile run from Quincy, WA to Winton, NC. Driving my 10-11 hrs, taking my 10hr breaks immediately, get ready b4 my 10hrs is up, and haul ###. And its all legal. When I say a week, i don't mean 6 days. My week is payroll week. Tripaks in by Wednesday, I get paid the following Wednesday. It's not hard, you just cant make a big deal out of it. If you average 62mph if the roads are clear, you can clock in 3500 easily and legally. Then again, company I work for does drop and hooks so thats my ticket out of a load.

I'm with your school of thought. Those who aren't getting the miles either get out of your company, or stop driving 8 hours a day and stopping. |

| Just quit USX. Sat for 4 days with no miles. They gave me a load, 3000 overweight on the tandems. Told me to slide the tandems all the way back, which would have breaking the bridge laws in two states and still overweight, and run with it. When I told them no, I sat another day, 5 total. When they finally took the load off of me, I quit. |

| I agree with aftershock if the shipper was a local company from your area you could of made araingments to go back and reposition the load or take part of it off. I know you claim to have sit for 4 days but when was this? If you sat during the labor day holiday that may not be the companies fault. If it was around the holiday did you notify them that you would be ready for your next load on x day at x time? There are times the company can not help it that you have to sit if the customers are not shipping anything at that time. What are they suppose to do if they have no loads for you have you go home and leave the truck or deadhead you home? I can understand if you were only about 50 miles from home from were you were sitting. All I can say is talking to your dm is the best option they can not read your mind to know when you will be ready for the next load. They may be able to see were you are at via the qualcom. You have to remember that they have several other drivers that they have to deal with. They do not have time to read and remember everything in your dispatch like delivery location, time etc. You should not quit if the company makes you sit a few days then tries to assign you an overweight load if you do that all of the time you will not be able to get any job after a while. |

| I have worked at KLLM (years) USX (6.5 years) IDC (1 year) May trucking (6mos+) and as a IC for 5+ years. At NONE of those company's did I EVER sit more then a day waiting to get a load. If a company does not dispatch you for 4 days and they know you are waiting for a load. It is ALWAYS their fault. Any company that tells you their is no freight for more then a day or 2 is just not being truthful, PERIOD I agree with aftershock if the shipper was a local company from your area you could of made araingments to go back and reposition the load or take part of it off. USX will send drivers to that load till someone rolls with it.They already know it is overweight. They just want the load on the road. You are dealing with CS people not real professional dispatchers like at a LTL company. I was dispatched to roll a load of rooftop AC Units across the border into Canada out of their Kent WA yard. I was the 8th driver they put on that load. None could get the load across because the driver that dropped the load took the bills with him, and you need the original bills and not the faxed copy's the boneheads at USX kept sending. I personally had to call the Carrier plant to have new bills FedEx overnight so I could get the PARS set up and deliver the load which by then was 2 weeks late to Keonwa BC. The customer was not happy to say the least, but that is what USX hires in their offices boneheads. |

| how about getting a load to wisconsin and not being told that you need to drop it at the chicago yard and get re-loaded. so there i am at the consignee, 3 days early... and he says exactly this: theres a truck stop down the road...see you in 3 days. i called in and all the --dm-- had to say was "oops". we forgot to mention that.i was also not given the choice to correct this somehow, but in all reality... usxpress was ok back then, now i don't know. if i could get rehired out of COVENANT i would crawl back. |
