More bad news from Conway
Conway Truckload is going take offline a handful of truckstops in cities where they have Conway Freight locations and will require us to get bulk fuel at these places. But first we must notify the terminal that we're getting fuel and must ask permission to park. Time to start hoarding those Pilot points and showers.

bad news would be if you got cut back to 62 mph, with out and adjustment to wage.

Can you blame a company for trying to save as much as fifty cents per gallon?

This just goes to show you how these outrageous fuel prices are affecting even the large carriers.

Actually, if a truck's driveline is specced to run 65-67 on the highway, cutting it back to 62 won't improve anything, especially fuel economy.

theres plenty of co's out their who relazied 62 mph vs 65 mph aint no difference in fuel. wait for the liability factor comes into play when one of these 62 mph trucks gets slammed in the rear.. and the attorney representing the slammer, "says you were'nt even doing the speed limit"! and yes they have cases now in court with this factor from a few yrs ago, now pending.

What do you think the speed limit has to do with this. Most all of the interstate signs clearly are marked that the maximum speed limit is 65, 70, or 75 mph. In some parts of texas it is 80. That is the maximum. Most of these states the minimum legal speed is 40 or 45. There is no law that says you must drive what the sign says.

Are you implying that the court cases you have listed are showing the vehicles were not doing the speed limit? Meaning they were on the interstate under 45 mile per hour?

If you drive 100,000 miles in a year and if you drive 63 mph instead of 65 mph. you would save anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 dollars a year by going 2 mph slower a year. If you have over 100 trucks that do that for a year slow down 2 mph for 100,000 miles you do the math. but hey drive 75 or 80 when gas gets to 5.00+ and you get 4 to 5 mpg you will slow down or the gas bill will eat you up if you own your truck
