| Can you blame a company for trying to save as much as fifty cents per gallon? This just goes to show you how these outrageous fuel prices are affecting even the large carriers.

| Actually, if a truck's driveline is specced to run 65-67 on the highway, cutting it back to 62 won't improve anything, especially fuel economy.

| theres plenty of co's out their who relazied 62 mph vs 65 mph aint no difference in fuel. wait for the liability factor comes into play when one of these 62 mph trucks gets slammed in the rear.. and the attorney representing the slammer, "says you were'nt even doing the speed limit"! and yes they have cases now in court with this factor from a few yrs ago, now pending. |

What do you think the speed limit has to do with this. Most all of the interstate signs clearly are marked that the maximum speed limit is 65, 70, or 75 mph. In some parts of texas it is 80. That is the maximum. Most of these states the minimum legal speed is 40 or 45. There is no law that says you must drive what the sign says. Are you implying that the court cases you have listed are showing the vehicles were not doing the speed limit? Meaning they were on the interstate under 45 mile per hour? |
