| Perkins Specialized Transportation (don't ever think about leasing with any company) Perkins Specialized Transportation After loosing my job due to Crossroads Transportation & Logistics going out of buisness I have tried out 2 companies, AD Transport and Perkins Specialized Transportation, both were a bad choice.. If you need info on AD look up my post on them.. Perkins Specialized Transportation You attend orientation in Noblesville Indiana, you will stay Clarion Inn of Anderson... They say be in the lobby no later then 7:15 am and they will pick you up at 7:30, The rep who is actually the orientation instructor did not show up till 8:20 by the way.. When you get to class it is not organized at all and you spend a lot of time doing nothing.. Oh by the way the food in the hotel is just awful so don't eat there.. walk to the steak&shake or if you can afford it the Crackle Barrel is next door..
After 3 day orientation, on the 3rd day after about 5 you will pack about 5-6 people into a semi and head down to Huntingburg Indiana.. 170 mi drive down there.. You will stay at a motel 6... This is where you get your truck.. The order goes who put thier ap in first gets first pick, thats all good unless your the last guy lol.. Anyways, you spend all day doing this, so it is really 4 full days of orentation not paid, not 3 like they claim... You may get a load and you may not get a load at the end of the day, could be the next day.... After being in 2 lease purchase programs I don't suggest anybody trying them.. They are nothing less then a scam that makes the company more money and you less.. I am hard headed and went against what i have read and my better judgment and thought I could make it work this time around.. I had a little money saved up for a little reinsurance so I figured it would work if I did my homework.. ALL LEASE PROGRAMS ARE THE SAME, they just word it differnt and switch the money being charged to you around to make them look differnt.. What they need to say is just bend over and let us give it to you, thats what they all do... Back to Perkins I turned down no loads (under a lease you turn down a load and they will make you sit, really the same goes for a company driver if they have that option, only difference is you will go into the negative with a lease) Here Are the actual number I am reading of my settlements 1st week -156.13 Negative 2nd week -561.84 Negative 3rd week +1232.56 Positive Let me tell you how I got that, fuel will reset at Friday 1 am (another words any fuel you buy after 1am goes on the next weeks check, any load you turn in by 12pm Friday (scanned at truckstop) goes on this weeks check, I simply purchase 700+ in fuel that went on next weeks check and turned in the load to go in on this weeks check) 4th week -587.24 Negative 5th week +114.32 Positive 6th week -499.13 Negative 7th week -401.78 Negative (truck broke down out 2 days) 8th week -1896.41(truck broke down for the 2nd time towards the end of the week, I had a windshield replaced this week as well, it cracked big time and accounts for around $300 of this ) 9th week -2788.36 Negative (part of the truck being down) As if wasn't bad already here goes the bad part, after getting the truck out of the shop(The shop the truck was repaired at is no more then 35mi from my house so i bobtailed to my house) I was asked if I was ready to roll I said yes I would take a load if they would subtract last week truck payment and all the other charges for the equipment I didnt use, I said I have made no money and have been sticking it out... They said okay we will let you know in the morning I said okay.. The load I said I would take "only" if they would subtract the charges didnt pick up till the next day at 5pm.. So, we had plenty of time to get things worked out in the morning. The next day came and I was on the phone with them a few time early morning. They said they was not going to remove the charges, I said okay then I will be bringing you the truck tomorrow I quit... ( i had to find a ride back after turning in the truck) Well during the middle of the night they came and got the truck that still had a lot of my things inside it.. Just found out they put on my DAC quit under a load.. Under a load? I never accepted the load, said I would take it "only" if the charges where removed. Now I have to go threw the DAC crap to have the lie they put in it removed.. DAC is nothing but a way for a company to get back at you for leaving them... All settlements do not include oil change and other such items.. So, it actually is more of a negative figure.. Some more about this company They are very reluctant to make any repairs found within the 30 days.. I had several serious issues with the truck that they didnt want to fix.. I will name one Steering wheel lock would not work, another words i could move the steering wheel up down, in out by firmly pushing.. Very fun when breaking and the steering wheel goes all the way down.. Non of the items I reported was fixed when I had the truck in the shop by the way.. Only fixed the issue at hand.. Once I ran into several drivers in Michigan, can't really remember the town but I know it was around Traverse City MI, anyways when I pulled up to a small little truckstop I was surrounded by 4-5 Perkins drivers, they all asked me how long have I been there and how well I was doing ext... Not one driver there was in the positive NOT ONE, and had not been for a few weeks, They was telling me Perkins does this all the time to them.. One guy was $2400 in the negative and has not had a pay check in 2 months, his electricity just got cut off and his wife was taking the kids to her moms house.. I asked why do you stay? They said they are not going to stay and all was going to leave.. 2 of them had been with Perkins for 2 + years and they said the company is just getting worse and worse.. Perkins has about 250 lease trucks and owner operators, and only has 2 company trucks that run the NY area... I did the math comming out of orientation (Should of been my sign lol) 6 was in orentation, So lets use the number 5 per week (next weeks class had 10 by the way) 5X52=260 Thats over 104% turn over ratio with this company per year.. Not sure exactly the number owner ops that are part of that 250, but if I was to take a guess I would say around 30-50, So that would put the turn over ratio even higher. If my math is correct that would be 118% per year turn over ratio (using O/O at 30) I hope that helps anybody who ever may considers going to this company..
