My mother had a heart attack this past weekend and I had to rush home to Dallas to be with her in the hospital. On March 17th,08 I had turned in my 2 week notice which would have expired on April 3rd,08. I was planning on turning my truck in at the Lancaster Tx terminal. On monday I recieved a call from my driver manager and he told me that Swift had decided to terminate me because I called another driver ( o/o not w/ swift) a butthole (other term) on the c.b. radio. Then as I informed them of the situation that had really happened they ignored me. I was never even told that this person called in on me. I told them it was bs. I was harrassed by the fleet manager and the terminal manager all day on tuesday to return the truck to the terminal. I had agreed to have it there by 1900 hrs on tuesday night. Mind you, my mother is laying in a hospital bed hooked up to all kinds of heart monitors..On tuesday morning the doctors decided to go ahead and operate on my mothers' heart.. The terminal manager and the fleet manager basically said too bad for your mom and oh well we need our truck back. While I was assured by my driver manager that it would be noted as a voluntary termination and I would be eligible for re-hire the fleet manager jumped the gun and terminated me in the system and also put that I abandoned the truck and they had to recover it. Crazy thing is this....I turned the truck at exactly 1900 hrs on tuesday night and I also got a signed truck equipment check list from the terminal. I also just recieved 2 safety awards from swift and have never had a preventable accident..And my driver manager also sent me a letter of recommendation for the next company I decide to drive for that states how professional, ontime and safely I handle my job..I don't recommend Swift for anyone as a long term employer for the simple fact that they will get you in the end either way..

First I hope your mother is doing better and recovers soon.
Second-don't worry about it until you have to. Might apply to other companies pretty soon before they hit your DAC, if they choose to do so. I would make sure and have all your records and awards and turn in checkout reports ready to fight the SOB's if need be. Hope every thing works out for you. You have plenty of supporters here and someone will be able to help you with whatever arises in the future.

thank you very much for your reply and just so others understand the importance of keeping detailed documentation on all transactions. that's what's going to be my hand up on swift. i have all my documentation in order and ready to go to the attorney..i have copies of every single load i ever delivered for swift, all my log books and all my awards and receipts. not to mention the receipt of them accepting the truck in great condition and returning my pet deposit money.

Good for you for keeping good records!! That will help you a LOT if they try to ruin your driving record.

I hope you mom recovers quickly and all is well. Good luck to you and you should probably apply very quickly and get rehired ASAP.

U may want to contact your terminal manager and start faxing him your turn in slip. Let him know that this is in accurate and it will interfer with your right to work. he has the power to sign right into DAC website and update it, maay take a business day to get a correct print out of your DAC but will show right away on web site. do it ASAP. Good luck.

Well, I'm happy to say that I got to bring my mom home today from the hospital!!! She's doing alot better. I'm overwhelmed right now with all the prayers my friends and aquintances have been keeping her in.. I think it's great.. Thank you all very much!!!

I am curious how you can tell what you were terminated for since it takes 2-3 days for the termination letter to be mailed. If you want, PM me your driver code, and I will verify truck movement, qualcom messages, and how you were terminated. If its not correct, I can fix it. If you cant pm, msg the admin and they will send to me. I have no problem fixing an error or injustice, on the other hand, if I see that there is more to this, then I will call you on it. Let me know.
