Now my question to you is, did you go through Prime training and do you work for them now?
There have been bad stories that sound more truthful than the good stories I have heard. The site you have mentioned is run by 'ram rods' who don't like questions asked that they don't like. When it does happen they find a way to turn it around on you. When drivers have a problem with trucks, they blame it on the drivers, they blame the drivers for everything. This tells me they are working for Prime in some way.
As for eating. I don't gorge myself. I just want to eat food that is good for you. I don't eat lemon pies just to hit the spot, or fill me up. I loved them and left them a few years back. I expect to stop and get decent food eat it and put some on the truck. It has been said that trainers do what they want. If they do then they can have there truck to themselves. When there's 2 people on the truck respect and consideration is do to both. I do give ..... who's truck it is. It sounds like there are no rules which would not be in the trainees favor.
What I'm I getting at here? I can't afford to spend time on a truck only to find out you can't stop and eat decent food, or what ever, when you need to the way I've read it. If I need breakfast, then I need to stop, same with lunch and same with dinner. If these time frames aren;t fit into team driving then somethings wrong.
As for their training. It is to long no matter what anyone says. What it is is a training program that turns into a "buy in " program. I would have more respect for them if they just came out and said it.
I may sound a bit sharp but I have spent months on all this and looking at Prime as well as interviewing about 25-30. I feel like it has been a waste of time looking into Prime if what I have come believe about them is true. They may well be a pyramid scheme of some sort. |
Oh..You misread my post..Maybe I wrote it wrong, if so I am sorry...I do NOT nor have I ever worked for Prime.I can NOT say if they are a good or bad company.
My reply was mostly about the training questions and opinions that you have about it. Such as that is to long to train..I disagree wholeheartedly. Yes, it is a VERY long time to be in a truck with someone. No doubt about it. Is it fun? Sometimes it is..But you know, like everything it is all a matter of the attitude you go in with.
I don't know about this "buy in" after training. Have not looked into it so I can only say I think your talking about the option to lease AFTER training. I think (but not sure) all the companies that have lease programs would offer that after training.
Like you I searched and asked questions on boards before I made my decision. At that time Prime was never even mentioned. However, I can tell you had they been I would have considered the training if it is as I have read on the board.
When I trained we had food on the truck and had a meal in a T/S when time allowed. I have run teams and can tell you some loads do NOT allow you the time to stop and eat in a restaraunt. I have always kept food in my truck and prefer it to any t/s.
Yes respect should go both ways..I said and will say again you are a guest on your trainers truck. The trainer should respect you and should consider your needs. But ultimately the truck , the loads, and you are his responsibility..
Yes, I understand what you are saying about the other board. I am saying what I am saying just as a driver. No company endorsing here. I don't think you wasted your time looking at Prime..You just don't know yet what you learned during the search
