JB Hunt, Accident Results

Many of you may remember my accident story from this past February regarding my being a witness to an accident while driving with JB Hunt. Due to Hunt placing an at fault accident in my DAK 3 days into the investigation & being kept in the dark for more than five weeks, I was on unemployment. I finally received a call from Hunt exhonerating me of all charges as a witness finally came forward & cooberated my story that I was not involved. The DAK has since been reversed as a non preventable.
Hunt paid me $123.00 for the 5-weeks compensation, however, they are now going after, & attempting to reverse my unemployment compensation i had recieved over the five weeks claiming i had been on suspension during their investigation. Is this a company any of you would trust driving for or placing your family's lively hood with? I don't think so.

This is SOP for JB in regard to challenging unemployment claims. Do not take it personally.

I worked for JB Hunt for about 6.5 years from 1992 thru 1998. I also was let go due to an accident (corporate decision [direct from Lowell Ar]for liability issues) in 1998. It did not matter that although I was involved in the accident I was not cited as it was a weather related chain reaction accident.

I had to go through a hearing for the unemployment claims and won. They can be beaten you just have to be willing to fight.

Funny thing is now I get regular calls from their recruiters every few months offering dedicated positions in my home state.

Although I made very good money with JB Hunt from 1992 thru 1998 (last 2 years I made over $61,000.00) doing a dedicated run for them I would not return to them. The fact that they turned their back on me AND fought the unemployment claims convinced me to never work for this outfit again.

I have moved on to a much better company where I make better pay, better benefits, and better equipment, overall it worked out for the best.

I suggest you too move on and do not look back. There are better opportunities out there if you look.

Wow! I'm sorry to read about your bad luck! I used to actually consider driving for JB. I used to hear their Chief Operating Officer (don't think I can use his name) talking on Sirius about how they care for their drivers.

Thank God for this forum! I can honestly say that this forum is why I won't work for JB or any of the other crooks. I wish you luck fighting these (insert expletive here!). It's companies like this that makes us doubt what any and every recruiter promises, and what also keeps our eyes open waiting for the knife in the back.

Large companies do have many drivers that are happy there. I did not want to necessarily bash them because I did have 6 GOOD years there. Regrettably if you have an accident with these big outfits they will get rid of you. It is not personal. It has more to do with the litigious nature of our current society and the legal advice of the attorneys these companies have on retainer.

Even the worst companies have happy drivers that stay for years. You can find examples of this at Swift, Schneider, JB Hunt, Us Xpress, Covenant, Prime, Cr England, etc, etc, etc.

The key is finding a company that you can work with and make money at despite the "difficulties" inherent with the job.

Read your original employment contract and talk to An attorney, I believe JB owes you for 5 weeks of work - the unemployment.

Can you substantiate you case? I would also ask for a written legal apology for future employment reference.

Your story is too common

JoBHunt has the common trucking-company attitude that drivers can be balled up and thrown in the trash after the honeymoon period is over (after the drivers start standing up for themselves and start getting raises). I know for sure I'd never work for them, as your story is far too common, JLK.

Yeah I drive a Swift truck
And that means one thing
It means she's slow
It's a typical company truck
It's just all show and no go

I'm gettin' passed by Yella
And even Overnite
I'm gettin' passed by ever' body in sight
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

No, my hometown's nowhere in sight
And if you think I'm pissed off
You're right
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

Love pissing off those trucking company insiders.
