BigD...I'm sure you also remember when C.F. shut their doors too.One day people are working, next day their not. That one was a shame imo because they actually had some good hands and a lot of them were really to old to get another good job. These Swiftys can go back to selling fake watches and velvet paintings in motel parking lots again and probably make way more money too.

Do you recall how much warning they had?

None Zero Nadda !!! They showed up for work, and found locked gates instead.

Preston 451 had the same problem. Creditors shut them down on the road.

Sure did!

If I remember correctly, it was Labor Day that they closed their doors...Probably meant as a final jab at the union.

If anyone wants support for the idea the big ones can go down just remember Bear Sterns. It went from about $60 to $2.00 a share over a weekend just 2 mos ago. Actually it would have went bankrupt if the government didn't rescue them with our tax money. Ya, the big ones can go down.

ADDITION to original post: I have just read that Swift is hiring people they should not be hiring and getting them cards so they can work, it seems at any cost. I believe there intension would be to flood the market with drivers so as to put pressure on American drivers who will be demanding more money because of speed limit reduction, which many cost drivers around $35.00 a day, around $200 a week. If this is so Swift should be shut down. This might give more jobs to Americans.

Yeah there were a bunch that went out quick. TOX,ICX, Red Ball, etc etc. You better be careful. The Swift Secret Police will be hunting you down. Make you put a velvet Swift truck in your bathroom.

I doubt very much if a company the size of Swift will be shut down by the feds.Yeah they are in serious trouble over their CDL mill in Memphis.I speak with experience when I say Swift is a bottom of the bbl. operation.I drove for them for a short time and I could not believe what a lousy company they were.Any thing negative that I have ever posted about Swift is true, from my own experience with them.A place where dispatchers,er oh excuse me DMs are allowed to rule the roost and answer to no one for their idiotic actions. I saw that first hand in the dispatch office in Columbus,OH.and Memphis,TN.DMs shouting at a driver over the phone then hanging up and having a good laugh about it with the other DMs.DMs sending a midwest driver to the west coast and leaving him or her out there for a month or so.They tell the driver there is no freight going east. They think it is a big joke.I have a few years under my belt and have made many trips to the west coast, but there was always a load coming back to my home region. This happened to me,and when I confronted my sorry ##### DM about it he replied oh,I thought you liked going to the west coast. As soon as this jerk figured out that I knew a little more about truckin than he did,he tried every which way to make things difficult for me. He liked having a bunch of newbies on his board that he could pee on and tell them it was raining, and they would believe it.If Swift wetre to be shut down tomorrow I would have a good laugh about it. And oh yeah there are enough large companies and some smaller ones to pick up the excess freight, caused by a Swift shutdown.

I know "DramaTip" is a Swift-hater, I wish he would tell us all which of those Drama-Llama ripoff reports is his sob story of why the big ole mean trucking company wont play fair and he took his CB and went home.

I enjoy reading "DramaTip's" rants as they are funny, but he makes incredible claims and expects everyone to agree and accept and I will call him on his crazy statements everytime. I have searched a lot of "DramaTip's" posts and read them, he is very consistent,..consistently with lots of drama.

Since you seem to be one of the VERY FEW who stick up for that ratty outfit ,you are starting to look like a Swift recruiter to me.Is that your game???? I find it hard to believe that a hand who says he has near 20 years in behind a windshield would be working for chump change and eating all that crap so you must have another angle or you're telling a little windy somewhere.
