Well, ...... for starters,
cheaters never prosper.

And cheating tends to not sit so well with many
dispatchers who depend on their Big truck truck drivers to be available when they're
SUPPOSED to be.

If y'all want more time off, it's better to pre-plan it, and make dispatchers aware of your plans.
Of course, y'all should also pre-plan your removal from your dispatcher's most favored list.
That being accomplished, y'all might be getting more days off instead of more miles with no choice in the matter, no matter.

Are you telling us that NObody told YOU that Big truck truckin' is what it is?

If y'all want more days off, perhaps the truckin' industry isn't your cup-0-tea.
If y'all aren't willing or able to pay the dues required in the truckin' industry to find and qualify for the dedicated runs that are more predictable, perhaps the truckin' industry isn't for you.

I well understand wanting home time, but I also well understand the necessity to be a dependable Big truck truck driver. If you're already thinkin' 'bout "cheating" for a few extra days off, I question the integrity in that thought process, and just might be the early warning signs that y'all aren't cut out for the lifestyle and mind set known as Big truck truckin'.
No dishonor in that.
Better to find out earlier than later, and DO something about it.

One of my two trainers put it like this,
When, after your days off duty, you dread going back out on the road, it's time to find another job.

Question is, will you?
Or just keep complaining?

2-3 days?

I don't get it bull............

Why are you only getting 2-3 days off? How many days out are you running...?

When I started out with them it was no problem for me to get home for 6-7-8 days...... but I stayed out 4 solid weeks at a time.
I have had 3 different dispatchers and have not had a problem with this issue at all.

I agree with aftershock..........in essence if you are not willing to put in what is required than how can you expect to receive..

This is only mentioned in this manner because, at this point in your trucking career you are a (newbie) and to receive the respect of dispatchers other drivers and most importantly the industry is to put your time in and show that you are here to work and work hard.........

As a side note the economy is hard enough an to have a job and keeping it is more important now than ever however, a career is not always the right choice and need to find the right one that you can fulfill all of your needs and the needs of the employer to the point that both are happy.

I wish you luck in finding out what is going to work for you. It is hard in all aspects of life but with the help of people like the ones here online and freinds and families we can all get the support and guidance we need, to make the good and right choices we need in our lives.

I am going back tomorrow after 5 days home and only two weeks out. I earned the days and I have more that I haven't used. The last few times I came home I was under a load so I didn't get docked any days off. To be honest with you, outside of local work, you aren't going to get many days off during the week in trucking.....unless you get a day off laid over in Wyoming. With Melton you earn one off day for every week you are out. With you living in NYC and being on a major flatbed frieght lane, getting home regularly under a load would be manageable.

You really don't have to cheat, you just tell your dispatcher you aren't ready to come back yet. They don't care because you are the one who is losing miles and $$$ by being home, so they are just like "whatever."

I have been driving for 5 plus years now and started out with CRST. I joined because I saw the sign on the back of their vans that said "Join the Gold Rush". Little did i know that the fartherest thing from thier minds when they came up with that saying was money . After about 2 months of driving I asked when I was gonna see some of that gold. That's when they explained that it was the Gold Trucks. My reply was if that's what that means, when does the Rush start? This truck only goes 62?????
