Since I am moving down to Texas this weekend, I checked out their website a couple weeks ago. I wanted to get more information. The website says for more information to call and chat with a recruiter. I did so. Every question I asked, she said "refer to the website". Um... the reason I was calling was for more information. I called the next day to talk to her supervisor... and he ripped me up one side and down the other. I guess asking for information is BAD, because they don't want drivers who can think for themselves and ask too many questions. I told him that based on his treatment of me, as well as his employee, I would NEVER work for that company, and would warn any others against it. If that is how they treat people before they are even hired, just asking for information, I don't even want to contemplate how they treat someone once they have entered the Spider Web and are caught! He said he had placed my name on a "never hire" list anyway. ALL I did was ask for more information than was on the website. Treatment like this helps narrow down choices!

Wow! Many years ago when I was a kid my Sunday School teacher founded Texas Star Express. I know for a fact it was a good company back then because good people were allowed to take care of their employers. They are not allowed to anymore due to liability. He sold the company in the late 80's due to health problems but he took care and is still alive and well.

As for today, in the decade I've been out here driving trucks some things become clear and in this case it's pretty clear TSE is just another company constantly advertising for drivers for whatever reason.

Well if a company is raising hell about you asking questions, well there is one big question about that. What are they hiding???

I don't - I ran into the same thing. I was looking at a lease/purchse with them last year. I tried to use the online chat feature, and must've gotten the high school sophomore that covers the lunch hour.

So I called, and it wasn't much different, young lady was pretty much lose, and was just reading from their website.

I requested a breakdown of lease fees/payments, etc, never got it. Called back two weeks later, and some $30,000 millionaire dude treated me like crap.

To define the "$30,000 millionaire dude", that's the young guy with mousse in his hair, Steve Madden shoes, and a new BMW that he's barely making the payments on with his $30k a year salary, but treats drivers like crap... we've all seen them in various places in a trucking company.

EXACTLY! That is why that kind of treatment helps narrow down choices! Thanks for the corroboration, Ronin! We got basically the same experience! I LOVE the "$30,000 millionaire" tag! Can I use it? :biggrin_25514:

Cheerleader or recruiter? Why would I waste the time on this just to BS? Others have had similar experiences.

"Texas Star Express like most employers will fire u after FMLA expires."

Let me say that hubby has used the FMLA leave twice over the years, and they never fired him. Matter of fact, it was a company personal that told him about the FMLA, and they are still there.
After being off for medical reasons he did have to get a new physical, which is understandable. Also, on his last physical his blood pressure was higher than normal, and he only got a 3 month physical card. At the end of the 3 months he was still having trouble getting his blood pressure down (due to meds he takes for other things). We were a bit upset, but told that he could take an additional 30 days off to get it right, then if he needed more time he could file for FMLA again. Fortunately he did not need either, he got his blood pressure down to acceptable readings for the DOT physical.
Oh, he has never taken a stress test in all the years he has been there.

I don't know your circumstances, but they (TSE office personal) has worked with him over the years, and trust me he can be a BEAR.
