I would stay away from this company if you got your own truck. This company is a joke when it comes to miles, they think your doing good if you get 2200 to 2400 miles a week. There only concern is selling trucks and if your not leasing one of there's you will be there last concern about getting a load unless there in a jam. They had a deal with Dallas freightliner then they ran out of trucks so they went and got some old worn out volvos from swift, ran out of those now got some trucks from greatwide, my point is there more interested in selling trucks and making sure those drivers get the miles to make the payment then a guy that brings his own truck over. O yeah and if your a company driver they will ask you if you want to buy the truck that your in and if you say no then they will ask you to clean your stuff out because we got someone that wants too.

to Slibrad... I will disagree with alot of what you just posted. We first leased on in March 1998, we bought our own truck, not a lease. In all we had 2 trucks leased to them, the last one died a slow death in May 2007. There was the occasional slow period, which you will find most anywhere, but nothing to really complain about.

Since May 2007, hubby had been a company driver. I absolutely love the benefits, ie... health insurance and such. We had depended on my job for insurance, and since I quit in 06 we had been a year without.
The miles are there if you WANT to run them. My hubby prefers to run regional, which cuts his miles somewhat, but he still gets over 2500 per week. He gets fleet messages telling about trucks to lease, but has never been haggled about leasing one. Furthermore, he has been in the same truck for over a year. Yes, his last one was sold as a lease purchase, but he did get a better truck out of the deal.

There are issues with every company out there, but if you are willing to run, then the miles are available at Texas Star.

Talked to Bruce.... what a salesman. No Bueno! Oh, you can own this truck in 118 weeks with guaranteed maintenance program and well run you 2800 mile a week on average and fuel is cheap with our surcharge, and if you want Jessica Alba or Jennifer Aniston to be your seat cover..... well shoot man, we will get one of them right over to you. Shell be in the sidebox with ducktape around her ankles. WTH.

They are owned by epes transport (a top notch company) . I have not
worked on that side but would asume its much like epes? The owner put
Our ceo over both companies this year! So any issues should be handled by
now . Like I said never been on that side of the fence but my side is good!
Best of luck! And happy holidays!

Texas Star has BEEN a sister company of EPES for many years. they just run mainly west of the Mississippi and EPES runs east of the Mississippi.
Both operations are pretty good,, EPES is a VERY standup company that looks out for it's drivers.
