Westside leaves me stranded

I had a wreck and westside fired me the next day and said to get my stuff out of the truck and to get home how ever I could. I was not given a tickect for the wreck. but a company that leaves yuou standed is not a very good company.

I agree: It's hard enough to get fired let alone try to figure out how to get from one state to another

I disagree: If the accident was your fault (Like you did someting intentionally) the accident was your fault and if you get fired from a job they don't give you gas money to get home.

I do agree on another aspect, why would you let ANYONE be stranded knowing they are a safe person.

We have 2700 drivers and if we terminate a driver we give them a bus ticket home or they can take the equivelent of that bus ticket and get home however they want. Rent a car (in their own name) fly, drive whatever.
So yeah I say it's a raw deal they are doing to you.

westside is one of the worst companies out there. they are very well known for going over board on a dac report. make sure you check your dac and do what you can to get there crap off it. what run did you do for them ? i ran se region with them years ago but mostly spent time in indiana and illinois. they force you to run illegal to get runs done and that is wrong. that was my major issue with them. they put crap on my dac that i had to do a dac fix to get off. other companies saw it and they know the rep they have so pretty much ignored it. suzy was my dispatcher and she had no clue about trucking. she was worthless.

FMCSR should have a regulation making it illegal to leave a driver stranded. I don't care how worthless the company thinks of that person. Give them a bus ticket period

If you figure up how much money a driver makes for a company, they could take a little hit and pay for that driver a way home. To leave a worker stranded, no matter what fault, is inhuman!

Just because you weren't issued a ticket doesn't mean it wasn't your fault. However, I would agree that a company should offer a way home, be it a bus ticket, ride with another driver, etc.

No one who works away from their home should be stranded by a carrier due to a accident whether it is the drivers fault or not.

But no driver should be away from home without a plan to get home if the carrier drops them like a hot potato, and the money to carry out that plan.

I am curious how a company fired you without a accident review of some kind, first?

Your next step would be to file for unenjoyment benefits and keep a eye on your DAC. Being fired for a accident from a carrier is not a cause to deny benefits unless the accident was intentional in most states.

There's usually more to every story. Not saying this is the case here but, usually the "poor innocent" victim is not tellin' the whole story.
