Some cents

Here are two pennies for your thoughts:

1. Get a local paper in Phoenix and look in the help-wanted ads. Oh, no, you're not looking in the classfieds for an actual job. You want to look there for those outfits you want to stay away from. The newspaper will give you plenty of company names you want to avoid. There are good reasons why those outfits have ads in the paper begging for people. "Replace a quitter today, BE a quitter tomorrow." 'Nuff said.

2. Pull out the yellow pages and start calling outfits in the Phoenix area that are not in the help-wanted ads. Somebody among those outfits is bound to take a chance on you.

Yeah I drive a Swift truck
And that means one thing
It means she's slow
It's a typical company truck
It's just all show and no go

I'm gettin' passed by Yella
And even Overnite
I'm gettin' passed by ever' body in sight
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

No, my hometown's nowhere in sight
And if you think I'm pissed off
You're right
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

Love pissing off those trucking company insiders.

Have you checked with the recruiters for these two companies to see if they hire in your area? Some of the data on recruiting websites is no longer accurate. I know for Willis Shaw the recruiter told me that I lived too far west and I am in NM. Living in Phoenix you do have several companies that hire regional as well as OTR. My trainer hired on at Ruan driving locally with some opportunity for OTR.

I can arrange to live in Tulsa if needed. I'm looking to life in the truck fo the most part. I'll sell everything and store what I need and take home-time anywhere the race is, sports cars, Indy, Rolex GrandAm, etc. I hope to put enough away to retire on a houseboat almost comfortably.

Are you sure you don't want to retire to a large motor home that you can drive slow in the hammer lane while seeing the sights? LOL

I'm not a CA kid (born in a state that is currently seeing more water than they care to) but grew up in Orange County. About the only thing I miss about CA is the beach.

I'll probably end up on one of the large lakes in near Tulsa, cause I don't for fruits and nuts!

LOL - and you want to get into trucking? Every ONE of us is nuts.

As for me, I'm not planning to retire anywhere in the lower 48. Too many *people*. I don't want to see my neighbor's lights on a dark night, much less hear him fart in a windstorm.
