Werner Shops Repairing Trucks

What happens to drivers in many big companies is getting stuck with an old lemon. While waiting for repair, no miles and no money. One of the saddest cases with Werner I've heard of went like this. I believe the scenario will be familiar to many. Tractor in and out of the shop, in and out of the shop, OTR breakdown, back into shop, ok'd to go out on the road again. This good, mature driver had been 'lucky' with trainers during the three whole months before they tested him out, then WHOOPEE got assigned his own truck, this lemon, and was looking forward to putting in a year of solo experience. Then, mechanical failure, never detected in the shop, never identifiable in scrupulous pre-trips (if you know you've got a lemon, you do those VERY carefully) - and BAM - a major accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer in back (rear collision) was sent to the hospital and will have to convalesce for weeks. Werner kept the newbie poor sap on ice for weeks while 'investigations' proceeded, without pay. Needless to say, he didn't wait for their judgment call and left the industry for good. Corrrection. Who wants to call this charade an "industry" any longer?

And I'm sure the good folks at Werner wil trash his DAC to boot, effectively killing off any chance he has of driving again, should he reconsider his decision. Your right, it's (the "industry") a freaking joke anymore, and companies hold all the cards. In any other profession, 3/4's of the stunts that these companies pull would be illegal, but in trucking, it's an accepted practice. And the guys who deal with it for years refer to it as a lifestyle.Slavery was a "lifestyle" also, but it got outlawed...

I am sure there are 1000s of companies that have never heard of a DAC report. But I am reasonably sure that they ARE NOT TRUCKING COMPANIES.

I also do not care for "Reporting Reports" that are not regulated.
Evals are not just for the Utt-Ohs in life.

Hmm, I wonder how many GOOD Things are put in ones; DAC report.

My current employer (For the last 9+ yrs) has never used DAC simply because of the unreliability and inaccuracies that their reports contain. I make .39 per mile,2 weeks paid vacation with my years with them, they pay 100% of my health insurance premium and discount the premiums covering my wife. 126 trucks and truly on open door policy , right up to the "Big Boss" ,Or as everyone calls him "The old Man".
Want more info? Dac is the bain of this industry. They are only good at one thing, keeping good people, who may turn out to be the best driver you never hired ,out of the the seat.
