Help 2 Has anyone else heard this about SWIFT?

I just heard through the grapevine that SWIFT (Swing Wide? I Forgot To), that they just got themselves into some MAJOR trouble due to hiring a bunch of illegals to work for them that had either falsified or no paperwork at all by DOT. We heard this more than once yesterday from a number of different people and the story was the same from everyone unlike other rumors that vary from teller to teller. Just wondering what others have heard and what kind of trouble this company could potentially be in other than the obvious HUGE fine.

I heard that they had to pay a fine and shut down for 11 days, I don't think they did shut down

The only thing I know concerning illegals and Swift. Was ANOTHER raid on the "Swift" meat packing plant to round up illegals.

I guess they're going to have to lock the managers/owners of this place up...to get them to stop.

That may be the Swift story you are refering to. Many drivers just catch tidbits on the radio, and never have a chance to clarify what they heard.

So it just blows up from there, as they don't know what they are talking about to begin with.

Yeah, there was a meatcking plant in Marshalltown, Iowa that was raided a year or so ago. Rounded up A TON of illegals. Are those two companies related??

This 'shutdown' that Swift was supposed to do, and didn't, will this come back and bite them in the butt? Should i be worried about attending their drivers training school in Idaho August 13th??

The shutdown for Swift transportation, did occur. It was related to the driver training facility in Millington ? TN. It wasn't a company wide shut down.

The meat packing company was hit twice. One of the guys got a year probation, and a $300 fine....after he had hired additional Illegals. and after he had told them how to get fake documentation.

The illegals all have to do with the packing plant. But, hey give 'em time. Once they figure out how to do it, the big carriers'll all have illegals drivin' for 'em..

I've seen some already at my local truck stop. Either a car hauler is employing them or they somehow got their CDL's while speaking little English. Can someone explain how this can occur in the US? I am not racist, I just do not understand this at all.

You will be staying at a hotel next to a truckstop that is really nasty and smells of urine on hot days. Just so you know. Best of luck

Some car haulers get approached frequently by Mexican nationals, in the right place.

Many of the Mexicans have a thriving business in Mexico. Rebulding/restoring salvaged cars. I've been asked many times what it would cost to have a load transported to the border. And I don't drive a parking lot.

Until they get a good rate, or they have a company that can haul them. They will continue to hire nationals to enter into the US as a group. And drive them back to Mexico.
