Hey all, Just wanted everyone to know what kind of experience I personally had with Werner in 2006. 1. The Trainer I had was verbally abusive and always cussing at "his soon-to-be-ex-wife" on the cellular to the point of me having to get off the truck and catch a plane then rent a car to drive myself back home after contacting my DM which stated I would get reimbursed but ultimately never received a dime of it back. 2. Werner's recruiters and staff lied to me about the pay scale from the beginning. It was a lot less than they said it would be by more than half! Werner also did not pay for the extra miles after getting me lost or once in town on the surface streets. 3. I did not get reimbursed for the ties I had to buy to secure the load of beer I was hauling into Cape May, NJ nor did they reimburse me for the weigh fees ever. 4. When myself and my team member returned to the Fontana Terminal, we complained about the pay and non-paid miles in person, since complaining by Qualcomm or cellular did not work (this was after 6 months of driving for these people!) in turn they fired my team partner stating that he had something on his criminal record about 7-8 years ago. We never did get the pay they promised and Werner I feel used an "excuse" just to get away with it! Sure, my partner had something on his record about 8 years ago, but shouldn't that have been regarded "before" we drove for them for 6 months? Incidently, as we were leaving the terminal that day I over heard another couple of team members arguing about the same thing! The pay they were promised was not what they actually got. They were really angry. I took a year off, but now have decided to try it again. I have learned it is truly wise to get it all written in a contract which I will do with this other company I have chosen.

No. What it should read is "welcome to the world of truck driving for a bad company". They're out there and there's a whole lot of them. It's almost becoming funny for me. Almost. Do your homework. Check the thread for Motor Carrier Questions. There are quite a few at the top of the page that you should avoid. Search this forum for the companies listed. You will see what I mean. There are a few on there that you will find no information on in regards to a bad company. I think you will know what to do. Drive safe

How did Werner get you lost? It's the drivers responsibility to call the shipper/reciever and get proper directions. And if the directions in the Quallcom are wrong, there's a macro to correct them.

Either way, it's not Werner's fault. If you wanna be paid for being lost, get a job that pays hub miles.

How do you figure? If Werner or any other Co, wants you to pickup or deliver to a customer on time, then it should be up to them to get you there the right way. It is only your fault if you don't plan porperly and end up there late.. |

If the receiver don't know where the hell he/she is might want to consider yourself lost...

Werner has 10,000 or so drivers right? They can't babysit everyone, holding their hand making sure they get to the shipper/receiver. 99% of the loads have correct phone numbers, so you call and get directions. If they're wrong, that's life-not Werner's, or any other company's fault. I drove for Werner my first 3 years of driving, and maybe 5 times the directions were wrong. And that was usually due to them being old and no longer the correct way because of new roads and whatnot. If you think the directions are wrong, you need to make a judgement call before you end up in a subdivision and call and make sure you're on the correct route. It's not rocket science.
