I contacted the state employment office were they are located, and just like you guys said they dont have the right to hold my check. I called the company back and informed them this and they said "you signed a letter 4 years ago that gives us the right to do this". I do not remember signing this, This was a small company that was bought by link america and i stayed on , but i don't remember signing any agreement like this. To top it all off they still will not say why they are withholding it. Guess i will have to contact a lawyer. Good thing is i am not the only one.

You should not have to hire any lawyer!!! The state should handle this for you. Get back with them. And don't take any guff off of them or your former employer. Get pizzed. They are used to screwing folks and you have to be just as willing to stick it to them anyway possible.

Just thought i would give you a update. 5 weeks and still no money. They said i signed a agreement stating they could withhold money from me. When i asked them to let me see this document they say "they misplaced it". The state will not get involved because of this reason. They also told me "you have no right to badmouth us on any message boards",so obviously they are reading this. haha. Give me my money and i will quit talking about you its that simple.

I was in the shop at least 5-20 hours a week getting the thing worked on. I was not alone the division i worked for had 100 plus trucks just like this. My final day came when i was doing my pre trip and noticed fluid coming out of my steering box. I called dispatch and informed them i was taking my truck to the company shop, which was 30 miles away. When i got there the mechanic informed me the need to put a new box on it and it would be the afternoon before i could get it fixed. I once again called dispatch and told them i would not be able to get my designated load to the destination in time, unless they had a spare truck around that i could use. Their remarks to me was " Its only 340 miles to the destination cant u just drive it on through". I said i do not feel safe driving this unit, and he informed me that if i didn't get it there on time i was fired. Now dont think there is more to this story I was there for 4 years and no violations no tickets nothing. And i am not alone they are doing this stuff to several drivers. Beware of working for these guys
Thank you for the tip. I contacted Link America and spoke with a recruiter. I was transferred to another then another. It seems that the recruiters cant even get their things together. I appreciate this site and all that give their insight to these rotten companies. I will continue to search for a better co. Thanks again

Make sure they don't ding your DAC and get away with it. You'll hook on with a better company soon.

Hi all..I actually work for Link America and I'm really sorry to hear that this driver had frustration with our company...A couple of quick points...We are NOT down to 95 drivers as this driver states, We actually have 1,100 drivers and we are adding to that total every single day and having to buy new trucks to keep up with the demand. We do NOT have 100 trucks waiting to be fixed, needing to be fixed or anything close to that. We have 2 in the bay right now and I know of NO trucks currently needing to be repaired that are not in the process of being repaired. We actually DO care about our drivers and their safety. All we ask is that you let us know if you're having problems with your truck so we can find a solution. We do have obligations to our customers to get the freight there, just like any industry, and we try to get it there if at all possible. Without the customers, the drivers would not have jobs....If we lose customers, then drivers lose miles and money and then you start hearing complaints about that! While I do feel bad that this driver had a bad experience with us, I could line up dozens of drivers that would say the exact opposite. As far as holding a check for a month? There is no reason to do that and we would only do that if there WAS a reason to. I don't mind fielding critisizm if it is well deserved. But many of the facts stated by this driver simply are not true. I should know...I work here. A former employee that feels he was wronged may not be the best person to give an objectionable opinion. There ARE two sides to every story. Just like when you have something negative on your DAC...there is another side to the story right? We don't just look at the DAC and make assumptions about that driver. We want to hear both sides. Thanks for reading, and hope you all have a great day!! Be safe!!

nope....but don't need to do damage control....we've got drivers calling us every day wanting jobs...we don't do any outgoing calls or pestering people at all....one person having a bad experience doesn't mean that the company as a whole is a bad place to work...i bet every company out there has drivers that have stories about them.

Ya he works for the company, Prob in the office or as a recruiter as stated. I would totally disagree with you statements. I should ad i worked for one of the company's that Link America bought out within the past 2 years. Yes there was 100 trucks just like mine, they are sill on the road right now. I never said there was 100 in the shop just that the company had them. I do not disagree that there are good and bad experiences with company's. I am just stating the facts of my employment there. If there is no reason to hold a check for a month why have i still not got mine? You work in the office you should know
