LockednLoaded

Lockednloaded...No matter what you may read here on this site, you are not alone. We ALL started out as a rookie, and most have had similar experiences as yours. Ours was with Team One Transport. It truly takes awhile to understand (or be able to put up with) "the game" when you are a company driver. Don't give up on your dream of driving. Just realize how much crap you are willing to put up with before you make a change to another company. The grass isn't greener, just a different blend. My husband and I have over 25 years between us and we have the greatest memories, and some of the craziest, from driving truck. He reenlisted in the Army last year (at 44 yrs old) and our life is now completely changed again. Enjoy your new career, but know that there is a LOT to learn, and it isn't just about the steering wheel. You and your wife will make it. Get involved with OOIDA, have a hobby for your downtime, get exercise when you can, take pictures along the way, and learn a great way to get rid of some stress (and I don't need any comments from y'all about this one). You will look back, in 3-5 years, and shake your head about what happened, but you will have learned to move on. Take your knowledge from this experience and go have a great career! There's a lot of crap in every pig pen, some just clean it up more frequently!
Best of luck to you, and your wife. Go get some miles!

NO they put me oos right there. Werner had to hire a team of lumpers with a roll-off. They restacked and reshrunk the pallets and after all that I had to sit for ten hours on line 1 before I could legally move. They also disposed of the crushed beers and rebuilt the barricade. when I was able I headed the under 5 miles north to the nearest truck stop for a shower and meal.

Lockednloaded I understand what you went through. My experience with werner was horrible and at 1 point of time I was to the point where I didnt think it was orth it. I have been though almost every possible bad thing that could happen. I also had my truck break down near new orleans and I was down for a week and a half didnt get pay and they gave me advances out of my paycheck to pay for hotel rooms and cabs. I had a frieghtliner at the time and the couldnt fix it so they sent it to peterbuilt and they couldnt fix it so they sent it back to freightline. I never got my break down pay and I had a negative paycheck for almost 3 weeks. Thats another thing I never seen negative paychecks until i started working for them. I had couple of negative paycheck from just sitting or my truck breaking down or for the making me swap trucks.

If there would have been a forum like this with all the horror stories when I started - I never would have started.

My first year was rough, coming from a "normal" job background, but nothing like the OP.

I don't think this is typical of everybody's first experience with trucking - maybe a little over the top even - with such a lemon of a truck.

Normally that is the one thing that drivers like about Werner is the quality of trucks (other than freightshakers).

But this is not an industry to enter "broke", as you will be working for less than minimum wage the first year at least.

i will not be surprised when someone with nothing to lose goes into a terminal or main headquarters and just opens fire at managment. alot of great people who are down on their luck are getting screwed by these companies.with these times i would not want to be a terminal, fleet nor driver manager. i hear and see all the disgruntled drivers everyday.good people getting screwed by these greedy companies.i just hope im out of range when this happens.

Probably not a the main head quaters they had security guards watching 24 hours. I got in trouble 1 night i slept in the driver lunge bc my truck didnt have ac and they wouldnt give me a hotel room and I left the drivers lounge to go to the bathroom and I got in trouble bc i had my badge on backwards. He said he seen it on camera and came out to tell me it had to see seem. And all the idiot dispatchers are behind glass.

Yo, Bro. Take a chill pill Driver.

This poor guy dreamed his whole life of being a driver like you and like us. He clearly got hosed and lost quite a bit by the most unscrupulous lot of scumbags since ship owners shanghaied gold miners in the 1800's.

Hang in there new dude. Werner DOES suck.

After you get 2 years of trucking under your belt coupled with a clean DMV, you can write your own ticket and probably even score a well paying local job if you like to sleep at home. Local gas tanker drivers make good money for instance. Some over $100,000/yr but this is not typical.

So lighten up Mr OO. We are all in this crap hole together. Least we can do is help each other.

Later Dude
