wrong the super 10 is really about finger control switch on the stick, and not LEFT FOOt clutch foot control ,
the split 13 speed is about right foot timing letting off the gas peddle control,

not left foot clutch control. opposite of what i was trained in school and my last jods for 6 months, if a tester cant give me some slack here he has some major issues..

I trained at CR England (yuck) in a Freightshaker 9sp. It is basically the same as a 8sp or 13sp. My trainer had a 13sp in his Classic and we started out as if it was an 8sp. Then we moved on to the splitting of gears. It can be over-whelming if you have not driven a 13sp, but is also close to a Super10. Shifting is shifting no matter what beast your in. Part of the problem was also the ######### who did the testing. The Layton terminal is not the nicest one in the May group..Also when I was at CRE there was a trainer (think hes still there) that failed EVERYONE who
had the mis-fortune of being tested by him. Did not matter how good they were,
he failed all. And this smug SOB would tell anyone who would listen what he was going to do BEFORE he took them on their test runs

PS i do work for May and they are FAR from perfect......but better than some..
Mike that does the testing there got his butt chewed out by Danny for failing so many people.
I know this because Danny told me himself.

I had the misfortune to be based out of the Layton terminal had a bad driver manager named Amy. Had a pos truck that the turbo kept cutting off.
I tested in a 379 pete were I over shot my turn and had to back up but Mike was kind of cool with that.

Mike tried to give me my walking papers after I failed the solo out test twice But My trainer called Danny and he said get a load out to brooks for one last test which I passed.

Mike made me nervouse because he looked like the P.E. teacher I had in junior high.

They have a rule when you pull up to the saftey lane or fuel island to bring in your log book did I ever do it heck no.
I do not want any one to look at my comic book until I am done with it.

gear box for some reason?
i told the tester that i was a little uncomfortable
with this shifter pattern while driving it on this test. i was used to a 10 speed kenworth with a cat engine at my old job, note different rpm range then the Cummings that it had in there. i had trouble getting it in gear over drive on the freeway and the instructor looks mad at me at this time of testing other thn that he failed me saying i shifted while driving over the railroad tracks ? i told him i didn't remember doing that?
he said i also turn on a yellow light on a freeway ramp ? i said yes i was already committed in that turn, with no backing up at this time and he said we only turn on green lights here at may company. so after the test i asked him politely can i go into there training program for a week or 2 like if i was a student, he said NO!?
Two otr jobs in 6 months sounds like a job hopper that could of been part of your problem.

I smell something and stinks on here. WE need the whole story not just little bits and peices.

May will not send you home for those little mistakes you must of done something to tick Mike off he is kind of a laid back guy but if you almost caused a wreck that would make him send you home.

Did you hit the curb pulling out of the yard almost everone in my class did I was the only newibee that managed to miss that curb.

You probaly did shift on the tracks I have more than once that was the main reason I failed my second solo out test. I was concerened about gaining speed and I knew I had done it one second too late once it was out of gear.

I have turned on red lights providing there are no other traffic and signs are not there says no turn on red.

Did you do oppisite mirror checks when you made turns if you are turning right did you check your left mirror too and vise versa?
They are verry strict on oppisite mirror checks they have had people that did drive into the side of the truck tires.

All you had to do is drive the truck like an 8 speed do not worry about splitting gears. Durring the road test.
The rpm range is not different you shift most if not all trucks at 1500 rpm.

I will give you a quick lesson drive through all the lower gears then pull up the range slector
pull it out stick it in the next gear go to 1500 rpm
then split the gear let off the throdle then right back on go to 1500 again which is only going to 250 rpm from were it starts out,
Once you hit 1500 rpm with the gear split mover the blue splitter back go to the next gear and then repeat the steps above for each high range gear.

Down shifitng those are a little different when pulling a small hill all you need to do if you have split the gear is let it lug down untill about 1000 then mover the blue splitter back then let off the troddle and get back on it.
If you want to do full gear do it just like any other truck out there lug it down to 1000 rpm then pull it out of gear raise rpms to 1500 then down shift. I hope I explained it right and you understand it

Did he have redish hair 6 foot+ skinny? If so that is him
He sweats alot for some reason he is also subject to random testing as he is the saftey guy and has to have a cdl for his job.

I think there is more to your story that is being left out.

They will not fire you for those little mistakes that you made.

They are big on oppisite mirror checks right turn check your left mirror and vise versa.

They want you to do that to check for those pesky little 4 wheelers that like trying to sneak in the 4 wheeler have a habit of hitting your tractor tires.

If you want I can pm you a name and number that you can contact and see if he can get to the bottom of it.
I do not want my name involved in it though.
May trucking is a pretty good company to work for the Layton terminal is the worst one to be based out of though.

When I went to driving school we had a 13 speed. We were told never touch the splitter, since we were always empty. We would only split high gear on the highway.
8 high. And like the other poster said, it's just shifting gears, whether 8, 10 13 or 18.

It might have something to do with the fact that this is his third company in just six months according to him.

yeah I pointed that out in a post that the mods have to look at according to the website.

I also said it looks like he is a job hopper 2 otr jobs within 6 months and looking for another one.
Maybe one otr job in 6 months would be acceptable.
When I quit May I took a job which I am still at but I am trying to come back to them.
I did not want to quit my job that I have now after a few months just to go back to May it would look bad on me.
I talked to the guy that will be my Terminal manager and explained that I wanted to come back but I want to finsh out the year at my current job.
I also told him that I do not want you to think I am a job hopper he said that he likes someone to show loyalty toward a company but he also urged me not to stay off the road for too long because of my lack of experince I was only there about 3 months. You can see the reasons I left if you search my may trucking posts.
