I have been told all the new are 9 speed atleast the new 387's are.
You will probaly test in a 13 speed though maybe a short nose pete.

New drivers will not get new trucks they will get the older ones with the 13 speed in them.

Since you have 5 years exp they may give you a newer one.
I just went back and checked your post to find the 5 years exp.

Ps. since you will be testing in brooks my advice is watch the signs close there will be one telling you to turn on your lights for saftey and then one down the road telling you that it is ok to turn them back off.

They will have you hop on the highway and next exit off after that turn left twice and then that is the road that will have those signs.
That is the most common route they will take you.
If the guy's name is Rick that is testing you he loves fishing. At may they are really big on oppisite mirror checks simply if to turn right also make it known that you are checking the left and if you are turning left check the right. .
You are looking to make sure some 4 wheeler does not try to sneak in by you. That is how alot of their wrecks happen in the past from 4 wheelers sneaking in and the driver not catching that..

Well I'll keep my fingers crossed for a 387, I like the way the 387s look. I would like something I can stand up in. Don't want to be all hunched over, lol. I'd like to be able to stand up in my truck and not have to worry about getting out of the truck to stretch the back out, lol. I don't really care what I get, as long it runs and gets me miles and I can stand up in it, lol. Thought they were getting rid of their old petes?

They said that when I was there too.

The older freightliners have the condo sleeper too and there is more space between the botton and top bunk in them.

My trainer was 6ft + and he could not sit up in the bottom bunk of his 387 he got a freightliner back when his 387 broke down for over a week and he was happy again because he could sit up.

Mgassel - we can drive anything! We're truckers!

Bowhunter - what you'll get to drive will depend upon what's available, I'm afraid. Odds are good, though that it will be a 387

as long as i dont get a 379, i drove tanks in the army that handled better and had better turning radius then a 379, havnt seen the inside of a 387 first hand, hopefully there roomy enough for a fridge and a tv. Opal said they were down to only a few 379's left there at the Brooks yard, said they were getting more Cascadias then anything else. of course the ultimate would be getting a Volvo 780, drove one a couple months back, THE CADILLAC OF TRUCKS.love the table with the benches, gave driver comfort a whole new meaning.

I was at the Denver Terminal yesterday, Bow, and saw 2 379s in the yard. Of course in the last few weeks I was there they've moved the rigs to the other side of the yard so I didn't ALL what was there, just the 2 379s picking up trailers.

There are no volvo's there anymore unless a person bought one.

The 387's are as big as the freighliners you will have to take a cabinet out to put a fridge in them there is a spot for the tv.

The good thing is may will install any size of inverter for you at no charge
My trainer had a inverter, fridge,tv,playstation, microwave running on his.
They will make you buy a curciut breaker to put in line on the power wires.

The main thing I do not like about the 387's is the body roll.

gimme a 379 any day over the 387. Better ride, and I've never found a place I can't get the trailer in. Might have to back/fill an extra time or two, but who cares?

Right about the inverter. Layton put mine in for me. They did insist on a 100amp breaker (I put in a 150) and heavy cabling. But it was installed correctly and ready for my use in about 30 minutes.
