Good place to work, (well maybe not specialized).....Just don't let the door hit you in the ### on the way out!

Well; I see they have orientation going again. I was talking to someone there today and I asked about all the letting drivers go and asked if they were through thinning. I was told something I never even thought about. I know a lot of drivers were let go for poor fuel mileage, high OOR and for repeatedly tearing up something on the truck or trailers. Some have hit something a half a dozen times or better. The one thing that I did not think about was many of the drivers had high claim damage. Some had 8-9 claims against them. You take a $200.000 coil and damage it while you are securing and those things add up.

Companies have to take a look at cost effectiveness and who is making them money and who is costing them money. Most people will gripe because they got fired, but few will tell you the whole story as why they were let go. As I have stated before they are a good co and they try hard to keep their drivers happy. They have been good to me and I am happy with them. They try to get you home on weekends and when you need something they try their best to do it for you. As I have stated before they will not tolerate a crappy outlook and if you don't treat them with respect you won't last long. They will not allow a driver to dog out a FM nor will they allow a FM to treat a driver disrespectful. A FM was let go not long ago.

I was told if I ever have anyone tell me to run a load after I have told them I can't make it safely due to weather or whatever. To let them know and that person will not be there the next day. Respect is earned, but it is a two way street.

yeah, i never thought of claim damage on freight either....as far as money damage....i can't imagine mine was that much....but u know- so it goes....hard times call for drastic actions- glad ther hiring again....my buddy still works there- he's trying to get out....got 1 accident on his DAC now- almost at his year- hopin' local before he gets something else on his DAC.....as is life.
-yeah, i can't say they ever heard me ask for more time .... but i sure never heard them deny anyone, and that is good....no doubt.
how anyone was around long enuff to hit a dozen things is beyond me....i never had freight damage, never deliver late, no tickets, clean mvr, always respectful, had my 5 in 2 years....i would guess the worst is the dented headache rack....and those they cut off the bad, weld on the new....put on a new truck....but none the less- i understand #### adds up.
anyway, they did me a favor....after a while a lookin' got a good job, good benifits, cool people, still get out on the road, come home for lunch, come home at night....wish all you guys out there the best, and ask the rookies to read my posts- pull out what they think will help them, and be safe.

you know that was one thing i never had a problem with and was never pushed or told that i needed to get it there. my fm was real good about that. i'm actually suprised that ever happened, never had anyone tell me they were forced to do something if they did not have hours or did not feel safe doing so

I'm scheduled to go to orientation on the 15th of March. I got a call from my recruiter asking if I could come in this weekend.
I'm sorry to say I couldn't, but there was nothing negative about the conversation. I'm looking forward to working for Maverick.

By the way; thank you notarps for all the good info. I feel better than ever that I've made the right decision.

Your welcome! I had the same thing happen. I had researched them and saw where it was awhile before you would get hired. I sent in my AP and they contacted me a lot sooner than I expected. I told them I had read where it takes awhile to get to orientation. They said I was in a good area for them and everything checked out on me. They wanted me the following week and I told them I need to turn in a 2 week notice. They understood and appreciated that. I then had something come up and needed to move my orientation back another week.

It was no problem and when I got there I was very impressed with them. 2 years later I am still very impressed with them.
