Absolutely true ... buyer beware of the lies you'll be told by the staff at Melton Truck Lines. The recruiters will tell you you'll get 2500 miles per week or more (you won't), promise you a non-smoking truck (and you don't get it). The DMs will tell you they don't have a better load (when they give you a 350 mile load on Thursday to deliver on Monday). The operations manager will tell you "there's nothing I can do" (first non-lie told!) because they are right ... they DO NOTHING for you!

They tell you you will get a $1000 sign on bonus, then do everything in their power to insure that you won't get it, including giving you a piece of crap truck which guarantees low fuel mileage ... then deny your bonuses because of fuel use. Happens all the time!

A bunch of drivers were given 500-700 mile loads to get them home for Christmas this year. Doesn't sound bad until you hear that they picked up the loads several days before the holiday and couldn't deliver until several days after .... 8-9 days sitting under the loads!!! So much for the pay for those couple of weeks.

The stupidist part is that they are still buying new trucks and hiring new drivers ..... why would anyone with any common sense hire more drivers if they can't even keep the ones they already have MOVING??? Just how ##### stupid is that? I don't think even Swift has done anything quite that dumb!!

This company started out good .... but they don't care a flip about their drivers anymore. They treat you like you're an idiot, don't care if you have a family you'd like to see occasionally, (told several drivers they could have better loads if they wanted to stay out over the holidays) don't care if you get a paycheck or not. You are NOTHING to this company. One person here posted that he had a $12 paycheck! How about one for $24 and two for $0.00 (yes, zero!)?!! The entire philosophy is that the office people (and Bob Peterson, owner) get paid, have money in their pockets, so who cares about the drivers?

So .. buyer beware!! Premier Flatbed Company??? I think NOT!!!

YOU DO NOT WANT TO WORK HERE! You will starve to death and lose everything you have.

Well the reason why they keep hiring drivers because they know you about to quit.

I dont understand why drivers keep signing on with these supersize companies. One thing to do do is grab a trucking magazine at the pilot and check out every company who advertises. Check every single one of these companies as a job you will never have and you will be much better off.

In the just under a decade driving I started out with a fairly large company and since then I have been driving for local or privately owned corporations only making a very decent living.

Its not that difficult to resist the temptation the pick up the phone and talk to a recruiter when you see a shiny truck and .36 cpm, when you can drive locally and make more money easily.

You can tell drivers that they will catch gonorrhea, have to drink dog piss and get a bad rash on their left testicle and they will ignore you and sign up for these companies. They always know better.:biggrin_25513:

I wrote a letter, not to nice of a letter about their idiotic back up beepers on their trucks because one of their flatbeds could NOT back into a straight back hole at the TA in Eaton, Oh! 15 minutes of beeping at about 3 am.
I got up and wrote him a letter that between him, the VP and the shop foreman there were a few years of college education and asked him how hard it would be to put a timed off switch on those stupid things so we can stay asleep at night! I later filled out an on line application to one of those online recruiting sites and believe it or not I got a call from them when on my resume I have NO FLATBEDDING work accepted!
After telling the girl that I #1 don't do flatbeds and #2 to ask the president if he still had the letter I wrote him which also told him the next Melton truck to wake my butt up at night with that incessant beeping I was either going to cut every wire under the tractor or sue his butt for being stupid!
She hung up and I think MY name will never be called again by Melton!
Want to keep a company from calling you all the time?
Threaten them in a nice way.
JB hasn't called me in years either!

I drive for Melton right now and am looking elsewhere, For Months I have been hearing that miles are bad for everybody but when i talk to new drivers who make less then me they are getting all kinds of miles. I went from average run being 1000 plus miles down to about 500 per run
