Angry Central Refrigerated Services

This has to be the worst company in the history of Trucking! They put you through a BS 2 week school, charge you 3,000 dollars for it, and expect a "Super Trucker"! Then, when you don't make that super trucker image a reality, they try to fire you for it! Not only that, they turn the trucks down to 62 MPH, and expect, somehow, you to make all your deliveries on time! They don't care about the safety of their drivers! All they care about is their on-time deliveries. They tried to get me to drive illegal many times, or in extremely bad weather. Weather that experienced drivers shut it down in! If you want to get screwed over, go to Central! If not, stay AWAY from them! They put a false report on my DAQ to keep me out of the trucking industry.

My friend they are a driver mill. They do not care about your sucess (which you certainly won't find with them). The rule of thumb is; If they advertise in industry publications, put ads in your local paper promising the moon then they are to be avoided at all costs. All of this excluding the fact that we are probably not getting the entire story from you.

Welcome to the Swift family of companies! At least they share some common ownership with Swift--that's good enough for me to stay away. Back when Dick Simon owned them , they were supposed to be one of the better companies to drive for, then some relative of the people that own Swift got a hold of them, and I have heard it has been downhill ever since.

Cool

I've been told Central is way better than C.R.England.Atleast for company drivers.
Most reefer outfits run you hard as you are hauling a perrishable load.

prior to my own authority - I leased on to Dick Simon... (before their bankruptcy/reorg into central ref.)

I had an account running from Denver to garden city Kansas and back 5 days a week...

I did VERY well with them.

Those type of accounts are not available with CRS... most of the old Simon accounts are LONG gone - and even though 50% of the office staff are still there after all these years - some of my old buddies have said things are a lot tougher at CRS... They say that the whole attitude of the company has changed and that the people in charge are not very realistic about how "things work" out on the road.

i.e. getting pissed when you don't run a 1300 miler they gave you IMMEDIATELY after making a delivery - with a pick up 200 miles away - AND when that 1300 mile run needs to be there the next night.

Dick Simon never had that kinda of nitwit dispatching... most of their dispatchers "were" drivers and knew what was possible and decent.

Now it sounds like a lot of their office staff are young and have no clue.

Hmm

This all explains why a central driver scared me so badly once.

I had been driving for about a week after training, I was going westbound down loveland pass because all trucks were detoured on it instead of going through the tunnel because of paving work, and I had a central truck with blue smoke rolling off its brakes behind me! I was only doing about 30mph, but .....1 week experience, loveland pass? can you blame me?

I am really surprised they didn't send you out with a trainer for 28 days

Central started to make all trucks E-Logs in September.

All it takes is one call to Saftey and the FM would have been fired, especially if they put the message on the QC.

We were stuck on Cabbage the other night waiting for the chain law to be lifted, the road was fine to drive on, not icy just a small amount of packed snow, put in a call to FM and told her we might be late because of the weather and it wasn't a problem as it was we made it to the Delivery early even with a 2hr delay.

Central isn't for everyone, but as a starter Company it isn't to bad.

What did they put on your Dac???

I guess i need to put my 2 cents in. With all and i repeat all companies there are going to be both good and bad. I have had my Share of problems with Central but they have been minor ones, I have a good FM that keeps me running. I have been with Central for about a year and i have seen changes in the company since i first started.

As i have said before on other threads Central is a decent starter company a lot better than some but not a company you would want to be a career driver for.

All companies have some bad drivers. but most are just inexperienced ones that make mistakes.

I wish some of you would would be more specific about your complaints instead of skirting the issue and leaving out specific details on why they no longer work there

I know Dragon's situation and agree with his for the most part and i think he deserved another shot and i disagree with the Company for not taking him back on.

I have never seen blue smoke come from brakes but i have seen grayish white smoke and i even seen a tire fire a couple of times and since all of our trailers have ABS brakes its kind of hard to smoke them even going down a long 6% grade fast. I have heavy braked a time or two and have yet to smoke any brakes.

I sympathize with any driver that got a raw deal from any company if the claim is a legitimate one but not the one's who go on a rant without stating specific reasons and hiding the real reason behind the rant. JJRanch

LOL its was obviously a rant by someone that wasnt cut out to be a trucker. Y because whenever people rant on about a company they always say the same thing. THEY made me. They cut down trucks. By the way you can make on time del in a 62mph truck. Im glad they messed your USIS report up good luck finding another jobs.....
