The lease for less program at Celadon trucking services

Actually, except for the low miles (coming to the conclusion that it is the DM, she's a bit new), the company hasn't been too bad at all. Who else offers a week off paid at $1000 every 30,000 miles? Anytime hubby's truck has needed work, it gets done fairly quickly whether its at one of the terminals, has to be done at a dealership, or getting a tire fixed at the side of the road or at a shipper. The air drier went on his truck today at a receiver, and they had someone out there within an hour to get the truck operational so he could get unloaded, loaded (picked up out of the same place), and drive the hour to Indy so they could replace the part. He's done and ready to roll.

 

Anyone thinking of changing jobs right now should know that people in this country are loosing their jobs by the hundreds everyday. If you have a job with good ins. and a decent wage maybe you should think about trying to fix the problem rather than change company's. I personaly know that a bad DM can ruin a good company for a driver. A good DM can make a bad company not so bad. I got the heads up on a good DM when we got here so we asked for him by name.

 

That's going to be hubby's next step once he sees how things go over the next week. He's going to be on hometime in just over a week, so if the talk he had with the current DM doesn't net the results of more miles, then he will be making the request for a new one. We both like the company, so he is going to be doing what he can to get things where they should be.

We have both been pleased with how they deal with things. They got him home just a few hours after I had to have an emergency tooth extraction, so I know that they do actually care about their drivers more than some other companies. He's only had a problem with getting home on his requested day once, otherwise they have always gotten him home on time.

They have been pretty quick on any repairs, tire replacements, etc. The most time he has lost is a day and that was last month when the EGR valve went on his truck. They had to have him towed, and it took awhile for the tow truck to show up, and the shop they sent him to couldn't fit him in that day, but got him fixed up first thing the next morning. And then today with the air drier going out. 20,000 more miles and he gets a new truck.

Not when there are drivers at the same company getting 3,000 miles a week.

 

$1000 a week after all payments -lease, insurance, taxes is fair.

1000 miles a week is bad, unless you are TMC with % revenue, but even then 1000 miles/week can be low.

 

Countrycruiser said it best. You are very fortunate to have a job with what sounds to me to be a very reasonable group of people.
Before you go job hopping I'd let this economy shake itself out and see who survives. Changing jobs at this juncture would be foolish to say the least.

 

Saw a couple REPO'd O/O tractors sitting at a dealer in Ontario Canada the other day had CELADON on the door look like they had been run hard.

 

I think you might be wrong on that BMC went out of business back in '97 (I think) their trucks were sold at a bunkruptcy auction and their trailer were bought by a company that used to drive the silver kw's 600s who were then bought out by Swift. I might be wrong on that 'cause I am going by memory which is not good at all, and I do not think Celadon went big time until the late late 90's

 

Celadon did buy out Burlington. I know someone who worked for Burlington who went elsewhere after the buy out.
