Celadon bought up BITS & PIECES of Burlington from the creditors,

They had also took over collecting recievables and gathering up the equipment when Burlington shutdown just like they did a few months ago with another outfit.

Burlington Motor Carriers filed bankruptcy several times. They were still in business and buying companies in 2001 though. I know because they bought out a company named Trans-States Lines based out of Fort Smith Ar where I had been working for almost 3 years (the last year as a lease/purchase operator). I believe BMC folded up in mid to late 2001.

A BMC rep actually tried to talk me into staying on as a lease op but they wanted me to take over a different truck and start all over. I was familiar with BMC and had actually spoken with many of their drivers over the years. The drivers were very unhappy from what I gathered and I had no desire to "stay on."

That's the way Celadon does all of their 'buy-outs'. They take accounts, maybe some equipment, maybe some drivers . . . They 'bought out' several companies just this past year, usually just taking the accounts and inviting the drivers to apply with Celadon.

Wow I am very suprised and bitting my tongue about the Steve is a nut case. He is the most respected man in my life I have ever known by many. Of course he must make business decissions many of us do not like, just like me he allows some to be made that I don't agree with. Drivers that talk about Steve usually have nothing but good things to say about him. Im just a little disturbed why you would say such a thing. You definately have a right to your opion. I was just curious what he did to make you feel this way about him?

What many drivers don't understand is freight is down all over! It's not just Celadon.

Here is a little advice you might take. Many of the drivers that quit due to lack of miles end up coming back after 31 days or longer. So yeah some get accepted to come back and then some don't. Well the one's who do get to come back just lost their senority and probably a week or more pay (orientation "again"). So you might really think about leaving really really hard.

I know the family needs feed and if you can find a better job/miles etc that's great, I TOTALLY understand. The family must be taken care of. Just don't listen to a recruiter telling you their miles are better etc do some research and talk to drivers and make sure you talk to a good varity of them.

I don't 100% know for sure but from what I understand we are on the internet taking loads not brokering them out. Not sure of the exact terminology for that. We never did that before and now we are to keep drivers rolling.

Celadon didn't buy out Burlington we bought some of their assets. It's possible some of the trucks was at an auction (possibly Celadon put them in there I don't know).

Celadon usually doesn't buy out the company however they will aquire some of their assest/customers.

Hard to keep track of who bought what or bought who and when it all happened as its happening so often now days.

Years back it was big news:biggrin_2555: if a major carrier went bust , auctions were well advertised and everyone on the road seemed to talk about it:biggrin_2551:

Today you see 1 carrier pulling anothers trailer and the STORIES start and before long the CB RADIO NEWS ( gossip ) NETWORK has all the INCORRECT details broadcast Cost to Coast

Celedon's new lease deal is not based on a monthly payment anymore. It's a flat .20 cpm. Drive 3000 mi. in a week, your lp is 3000 x .20. Drive 0 mi. and your lp is $0.00, meaning you can take a week off and your lp for that week is $0.00.
