:Van: I have been working at Celadon for almost 7 years, 5.5 as a company driver:pottytrain5: and 1 3/4 as an owner operator.:sign3: Many of my friends decided to go owner operator here before I did, so I followed suite. Well then some of my friends were entering their last 9 to 10 months on their lease at Celadon.....Then their miles dropped. I ignored all the facts and slowly one by one my friends lost their trucks. So now Im in this 9 to 10 month interval and now Im not getting miles. The only thing that is different with me is I have a ace in the hole:bootyshake: and found financing for the remainder of my truck note, so I have options. I wished my other friends would have had the same option. I certainly cant live off 1400 one week and 1900 another, simply at least 2500-2800 would get me by, thats not much to ask.

Those kind of miles are going on with the company drivers too. My hubby is a company driver with them. Glad you were able to find financing for the remainder of the truck note so that you have options though. That was a good move.

I KNOW YOUR RIGHT, I PLAYED BOTH SIDES OF THE FENCE, COMPANY AND O/O. BUT THE ONE THING I HAVE TO ADMIT,:smt011 CELADON USED TO BE ONE OF THE BEST COMPANIES TO WORK FOR, BUT NOW THAT STEVE R HAS STEPPED TO SIDE, IT HAS WHEN DOWN DRAMATICALLY. THE ONE THING THAT CONCERNS ME IS ALL THE CURRENT DRIVERS. I WAS WITH BURLINGTON MOTOR CARRIERS WHEN THEY DECIDED TO GO BELLY UP AND THEY FAILED TO TELL ME AND TOLD ME 1 HOUR AFTER THAT I CAN TAKE MY TRUCK AS FAR AS I CAN TIL IT RUNS OUT OF FUEL AND THEN CALL A CAB. I HAD TO SIT AT A TRUCKSTOP FOR 4 DAYS STRAIGHT POLISHING RIMS AND TANKS TO SURVIVE, WHEN THEY SENT ME A MESSAGE "IF YOU HAVE RECIEVED THIS MESSAGE, YOU HAVE BEEN PREAPPROVED TO WORK FOR CELADON" THEN THEY SENT ME DIRECTIONS TO THEIR TERMINAL AND A EXPRESS CODE TO GET FUEL.:director: FOR ALL THOSE DRIVERS EVEN CONSIDERING LEASING THRU CELADON ****DONT****THIS COMPANY IS NOT CUT OUT TO CARRY O/O'S AND NOT EVEN COMPANY DRIVERS FOR THAT MATTER. FOUND OUT THAT CELADON IS CUTTING CORNERS YET AGAIN AND BROKERING OUT ALL OUR LOADS TO OTHER COMPANIES THAT WHY WE SIT ALL THE TIME. IT REALLY SAD, I DONT REALLY WANT TO LEAVE, I HAVE BEEN WITH CELADON FOR ALMOST 7 YEARS AND THIS IS :crybaby:ALL I KNOW, SO ITS HARD TO MAKE CHANGES....:puke:

Glad my hubby is working on getting out of there. We have noticed a serious drop in things in the last couple months or so. They were fine when he started there, but lately it's really sucking. Interesting to know they are brokering out a bunch of loads.

It's too bad, because nobody has the vacation package that they have. They've done a great job of getting hubby home on his requested days too, and even got him home a few hours after I had emergency dental work so he could help me out (I don't do well on the pain meds they usually give me). Other than the lack of miles recently, we really haven't had any complaints.

Go to Safestat and look at their rating. It is at 93 and recommended safety inspection.

sure hope he can find something else, just hope Celadon doesnt go belly up like Burlington. Now Ive got to do the search thing for a better company, thought about Schneider but they do not have a pet policy as far as I know, mayb flatbed but I only experience in dry van, I dont know....refer??? decisions, decisions, decisions....the big C strikes again, I have been sitting in Brownsville , TX for Two days and working on my third and all they can tell me is that there is no freight and that they are still working on saturdays pta's, I am 230 miles from Laredo but they r putting me in same group with pta's, doesnt make any sense. plus I dont have a/c becuz I cant afford to get it fixed with these miles so I have been cooking down here, probably will make a move today to another company

Celadon actually ownes Burlington(they bought them right out of bankruptcy court about 5 days after Burlington filed) Steve is not hurting for any money over there at Celadon, he could take that company private if he wanted, but he likes being publically traded. Celadon continues to buy companies and equipment and customer bases. Their last aquisition being the customer and accounts list from Priority Transportation.

Personally, I would tell you that Celadon is not that great of a place. They are not very driver freindly either--not even close! Steve is a nut case and most of the people that have worked for him over the years have walked on him. I drove for Celadon for almost a year several years ago--that was 1 year way too much!
