Man nevermind when there for an interview an a driving test an asked to look at their trucks before I went ahead with anything an man I have to say their trucks r pretty sad . Every truck is damaged in one way or another an the inside of the trucks r like pig pens. I came back in an said nevermind I've decided to stay where I am with my clean an undamaged truck... With dot inspections goin on this month I wouldn't wanna be caught in one of those trucks! Btw they r all chieftain trucks. So I'm gonna keep plugging away an keep looking for a Good company to work for

I agree with you to a point. The trucks in Flint right now do look pretty shabby but they are replacing them slowly and trying to keep on top of the older ones. You can't put all the blame on there maintenance dept. They can't fix what they don't know is broke. I put more of the blame on some of our drivers. They will just drive what you give them and never fill out a repair form or tell maintenance about there problem. If you don't like the truck your given because of a maintenance problem just speak up and get it fixed. They have no problem fixing a problem in house or out on the road. A truck does not have to look brand new to pass a DOT inspection.

The truck you drive now might be undamaged and thats great. I hope it stays that way. What did you think would happen at ELH? They would give you and brand new truck and get you home every night? There's a little give and take going on here. Swift might give you a nice clean white truck to drive but i know they will keep you out on the road for what? 2 to 3 weeks at a time? ELH Trucks might look pretty bad at times but at least your home every night or at least every other night. It's up to you what your truck looks like and drives like. You always have the right to turn down a truck because of problems. They might have another truck for you to drive and then again they might not. If they don't have a extra truck for you they will rent a ryder truck until they get your truck fixed. It's all about what your looking for. I don't have this problem anymore. I own my truck just so i don't have to deal with problem from any company. Did you even drive any of the trucks? My old pick up looks like crap to but i would drive it any where any time. I would have no problem driving any of the ELH trucks after i looked it over. If it passed my pre-trip then i don't see a problem. I'm out here to make some money and pay my bills. I don't drive a truck to look cool.

Yea that's the problem they wouldn't pass my pretrip. An hey if u wanna drive a truck that has food an butt stains on the driver seat hey more power to u but I will not slip seat with drivers that treat equipment like that but hey if u want to again more power to you. I drove crap trucks with swift an I proved my self an they have rewarded me well with a nice almost new blue swifty an I believe ur truck is just an extension of ur life style an I will not let whatever truck I drive make me look bad whether it be my own truck or a company truck project a bad image of me. I've never had warning or been cited for any kind violation since I started driving a cdl b truck back in 2006 an plan on keeping it that way. So I'll just keep trucking where I'm at an get my 2 yrs in an find a company that prides it's self on it's trucks like I do my CSA score an driving record.

Oh btw I found a broken mirror, cracked windshield, exposed wiring hanging out under the head lights, loose exhaust stack mount let alone soot on exhaust connections, 2 leaking outside wheel seals, broken door latch handle, an some pretty dry fifth wheels on the 6 trucks I just looked over. An that's jut the outside since all the doors were locked an I couldn't see how bad the insides where from just lookin threw the windows an found my self disgusted at what I seen

I would say that if you didn't feel comfortable with what what the dispatchers were saying why wouldn't you contact their managers? Everyone has a boss and I know personally that the operations director or VP of Ops would have helped. Most people who don't get help don't ask.

They bought over 150 newer trucks in 2012. Trucks that need repairs get fixed as long as drivers report it. Drivers who keep their trucks dirty are only hurting other drivers.
