Ever heard of UTSI Group? There are 8 sister co under this title and UAC is the parent company. Yes Central Transport and Pam are or were part of this group. Central shares a terminal with Louisiana Transportation Inc. in Houston,Tx. I was leased to LTI and lost my ###,pushed to p/u a load and miss led by co officals on the time I had to take a random. Guess who was punished for that? Safety calls me and fires me reports to DAC but the people in the office didn't even get a slap on the hand. The matter was removed from the LTI officals hands and the desion to black ball me was made by UAC officals.

I agree with all of you, all these " o/o" companies suck. None of them have their own freight, it all comes from a 3PL (3rd party logistics co.) or brokers. Most shippers find it easier to deal with one logistic co. then a 100 trucking cos. DoubleDear unless you are really new you should know by now they will tell you what they think you want to hear and hope your stupid enough after you hire on you won't figure out your getting screwed.

I used to be an agent for Universal Am-Can, their corporate office is in Warren, MI and they have about 1500 "agents" in the US and Canada. So it probobly is the same Company. The guys name that owns UACL and it's sister companies ( LTI, Mason Dixon, Great American etc, etc) is M. Matoon. Any who, UACL sucks. we left them in last year to get my own authority, we had our own customers, took them and said good bye forever to UACL. The president wasn't too happy that all our customers followed, but you have to do what you have to do in this business to make money and UACL taking 25% of your revenue will kill ya with this economy

Alot of agents with Universal are duel agents with Landstar. I am leased to Mason Dixon, owned by Universal. It is obvious that lot of replies have been posted by people who have no idea about Universal and the companies owned by UTSI. It is the same deal here as at Landstar, I am home most weekends pulling a dry van at 75%. Agents dont do anything here nor does the corporate office support you here, its all on you and what you make out of it. Just something to think about:biggrin_255:

Hey dont have to be in the carolinas, it happened right here in the mid west. The company i worked for got bought out by Universal AmCan and #### went to hell. They jacked me around for my money and everyting else! Long story short, this week i got a letter from a collection agency, trying to collect for Universal AmCan $457.00 (almost a year later after i quit them) and the funny part is that nobody can explain what the amount is owed for. My accountant tell me that everything with Universal AmCan comes out to $0.00 so i e-mailed Universal AmCan and old them to explain what the amount was owed for and to include all P O numbers regarding this amount. Anyone else out there this happened to !!!!!!

  8. ive been with universal since oct 25th, i have done ok. however most of the frieght is cheap less than 1.00/mile to the truck incldeadhead. thow i have been lucky recently ive found that machinery loads pay pretty good, so over the last 2 weeks ive gotten an avg of 1.40/mile to the truck including deadhead, i dont think universal is the problem i think it is the ###### economy and cheap freight rates. thow it does piss me off that the majority of their frate is brokered several times, that is what causes it to be so cheap.

    Hey :
I work for UACL. And yes they own a lot of other trucking companies.
More than you all have listed.

I started back in 1981 with the Furtiture DiV. in Grand Rapids Mi.
I took a long break and am back with them now again.

They have terminals all over the US along with their many other companies. Yes they use Borkers to move some trucks. More than likely all of the trucking companies do , they just word things so you do not know about that part.
They also own OX or what use dto be OX. I pull OX trailers all the time.
That terminal is in St. Paul Mn. Pitts and Nobble is another.
Pacer is now on their list. Mostly flat beds.

It may depend on how you run, talk to your dispatcher, etc. but I have had no ill issues with UACL at all. They pay faster than anyone I have ever heard of.
I have the choice to say NO if I do not like a load.
The 68% thing was in the contract and I understood it very well before I signed it.
I even buy my tractor insurance through them and get it cheaper than I could any where else. And that is with No tickets in the last 20 plus years .
All of my out bound loads are very light and My truck does not even know it is loaded. I run a C-15 500 Cat that has been bumped up to about 700HP. On a good day and running at 65 to 68 MPH I can get as much as 8.875 MPG.

I do not count pennies per mile but rather dollars per day.. That will make or break ya.

    Hey there:
I have not heard anything all that good about Land Star.
Maybe a few agents are with LS also but none that I have met.
UAC company stores have good freight and good rates. If you guys are reffering to just UAC agents then that is a different story. An agent is just that , an Agent only. They can use UAC authority to get freight hauled but that does not mean it is UAC freight.

All companies use brokers and that is just trucking. If you are under some type of cents per mile contract with your company then you would never know if it is a broker load or not. Last I heard Land Star was a pennies per mile contract. And if I am not mistaken well under that buck per mile . Many of the per mile companies are under .90/mile.....

UAC is % of line haul. The only way I will do it.

I saw in another post where a guy said that a CRST "O/O" was getting a 1.50 to 2.00 per mile at 6000 to 7000 miles per week as a team...
I have waded some deep creeks before but this is very hard for me to swallow.
CRST would hav eput those loads on a company truck and that is is that.
I don't care who you work for 6000 to 7000 loaded miles per week even as a team is extremely hard to do let alone find. To top it off at 1.50 to 2.00 per mile ????????????????

That folks is $14,000.00 per week with a dry van ... What ???????????
If that is the truth , I could buy 100 brand ne wtrucks and lease them all to CRST and hire drivers as fast as I can........
Lets see here . that comes out to $728,000.00 per year per truck x 100 trucks = $72,800,000.00 ........... Get out of my way here I come... :biggrin_25523:
