Oh, Jesus.

Oh, Jesus. Swift is mixed up with Central? It'd be no surprise. I'll bet Swift will eventually buy out C.R. England and consolidate Swift, Central, and CRE into one massive company based in Salt Lake. Swift already has a terminal there, and just down the road a bit from that terminal is Central and CRE.

If this happens, it'll be great business for the Salt Lake Tribune, thanks to the constant need for this new company's help wanted ads every day of the world. The SLT may have to start printing two editions a day....and may even have to print on Christmas.

The guy that owns Swift bought Central Ref. for his daughter. At some point they even shared Swift's terminals. At least that's what I've been told.

His daughter the truck driver?

That's funny. I assume his daughter has driven trucks. Hell no, I'm sure she hasn't. Wouldn't be surprised if she's never set foot in a truck....ever.

Turbo and Jimi, can you clear this up?

Turbo, here's a quote from a previous post in this thread:

"Yep...Swift changed the name to protect the guilty."

This means Swift DID buy out Central?

Jimi, you told me in a recent post Central was bought out by Jerry Moeyes, not Swift.

I'm kinda confused here.

This is how I see it: Swift and Jerry have split, meaning Jerry owns Central, not Swift.

I thought Jerry and Swift were still "married", which would explain my claim that Swift bought Simon.

Can you guys clear this up? Thanks a bunch.

Re: Central refrigerated services

Dick (Simon) and Jerry Moyes have (had) a history. A friendship if you will. A few years back, Dick found himself in a cashflow problem and turned to Jerry for help. Jerry helped and helped substantially on condition the note be repaid in a timely fashion. Dick ponied up stock shares as a collaterial. The debt remained, the friendship became strained and Dick Simon Trucking was falling apart. The remaining stockholders approached Jerry and asked him to make an offer on outstanding shares to force Dick out. They would cover the original debt in the process if he helped. Jerry did just that, independently of the Swift Transportation venture. Though, once renamed as Central, they shared all Swift terminals and resources, etc... through Swift Leasing, I believe the arrangement was made but Central was and still remains and independent company. He may have given some stocks to his daughter but she doesn't operate the company or any of its trucks. FYI...Jerry Moyes started as a truck driver with one truck back in the 60's. I'm sure his children are as capable as he. I never worked for the man or any of his outfits personally but I had the pleasure of meeting him once. He is as nice as they come. Extremely intelligent as well. Anyway, that's the condensed version.
