The regional manager was making it sound like every thing was cake and ice cream.. yu can have a regional job in 8 months 500 miles a day and be home every nite!! Yeh right!!! He was really selling us the BS and one student signed up right away.. go figure..

Glad i work for an O/O who is leased on with Werner, after i started for him i listen to alot of company drivers complain about everything, most was the simple fact, they have no clue what they got into. If i belived all the #### i heard if i was a company driver, i would have quit and ran cattle in California after 3 weeks. I have met some company drivers that are very happy with the company, so you can't always belive what you here on these forums. Most of these people are not telling the whole story, trust me. I watched a company driver at a terminal drop a trailer on the ground because he did not put the landing gear down. That same night before i left he was waiting for a cab telling everyone he was fired for something totaly different. These are some of the same jackpies that come in here and cry"I was canned for some B.S. reason, blah blha!" Fact, times are slow in trucking, if a company puts you in training, it might be a long time before you get a truck, pay is low, but you could always hang out in the unemployment line. A job that gets your feet wet in the trucking industry is better then siting home broke, man up, put your time in, and hope for the best. Or sit at your computer and complain about a job you know nothing about untill you try. The student driver i have on my truck is already in a division when he gets off my truck, so there is still jobs at Werner. Well hope this lights a fire under your A@#! Gotta go, driving 6 hrs from Laramie WY to Saltlake city UT, then back to Denver, where the person i work for is flying me home to California while my truck gets some T.L.C in Denver, God iam spoiled. Talk at you guys and gals when iam home drinking a Budwieser with some young hot little girly if i play my cards right.

P.S IROCUBABE, back me up on this, you are by far the coolest person on these fourms, you at least know what your talking about.

I turned it down!
A couple extra hundred bucks a week wasn't worth it to me.

My problem with Werner's is cutting driver pay while still filling the halls with student drivers.

340 hr's on the trk than sending them home for up to 30 days waiting for their first trk.

I've come to believe Werner has little to do with moving fright and all to do with Government funded training!

What I'm saying is,...take care (because Werner Cares) of the drivers you have first!

Alan, dont take this personally, but you are full of it. Other half has been working for them for 18 years. Nearly EVERYTHING you say isn't true.

First, no you DO NOT make .15 or .20 a mile... its not much more however if you have no experience. During training, the student gets a flat salary, although not much, and the trainer gets the students miles. Werner did however, cut pay back about 8 months ago on OTRs.

Previously Werner did cut back on single OTRs and switched to team OTRs leaving the loads at a yard. Then pony express the load to a yard where a shag driver would deliver the load locally. They have stopped that. There arent too many more shag deliveries unless you work at a DC/yard, and the drivers are now again taking the loads from the shipper to the receivers.

Rate of pay per miles depends upon the account you are on and the miles you drive. My other half gets the same mileage pay whether hes loaded, bobtailing or deadheading.

As for miles, again depends upon the account you are on. My other half runs 2700-3000 per week.

If you are under a load and breakdown, you do get breakdown pay.

And no, the execs did not split a one BILLION bonus..... decimal point and all ya know. As for Greg, he's had his bike shop for years.. that's nothing new.

Try again...... thanks.

As for other comments about Werner and government money, that part is true. They get grants that pay for the students they train because of the "driver shortage".

Additionally I have a suggestion for any Werner driver. Do not take Safeway loads unless you have to. Safeway hand counts... in other words... 8-10 hours to unload...... can you say Macro 11? (I think it is..... +/- for delayed by shipper.)

Same goes for Sears, took 7 hrs to unload. Learned what and what not to do there for time wise. I do 48 and get .26 per mile loaded or unloaded. I guess it depends on the division as mentioned before.

Their website says .352 (0-1year). So why are you only getting .26?

Yep it was more like 1.26 million in bonuses in a recession for the top 5. Which ain't bad considering they have drivers running OTR for .26 a mile. Guess the recession kept them for taking more?
