Phoenix

Gtown KY.

Was once a dispatcher there. They tell you that it is a non forced dispatch but it's not true. Let's face it, the trucking industry, esp. the companies aren't the friendliest of companies out in the working force. However, this company is near bottom out. They are selling off fleet, they barely keep money in the comdata account, plus I've seen them hold drivers' last checks until they expire. They won't mail it to them. Safety Director has multiple DUIs Gee, let's 'lead by example! Health ins is pathetic with a 4000 individual deductible. Safety bonuses???? They will find a way to eliminate yours. How long have you waited for a backhaul? Well, I've seen "team " drivers wait as long as 30 hours in their truck... no hotels. These are just a few things that should have you running the other way.

Forbidden 3 Not what it used to be.

I drove for this company for a while, and everything dispatcher07 says is true, plus some.

They are a regional carrier, mainly KY and PA. Sit times can be unreal, 30 hours is NOT unusual. They have lost major accounts (ie. Toyota), and major runs with other accounts (ie. Amazon).

As a matter of habit, they dispatch solo drivers on runs that can IN NO WAY be run legally.

If you look them up on FMCSA's Safe-Stat website:

You'll see that they have been involved in two fatality accidents in the past year. It may not seem like a lot for 170 power units and 186 drivers, but THOSE numbers are very outdated. They are down to about 46 working power units.

Their sliding Safe-Stat ratings on both vehicle and drivers indicate what is really going on. The only emphasis is to get the loads there on time, safety and HOS be dam*ed.

As for the vehicle statistics, the shop is a joke. They're also hamstrung by not having the funds to work with. Parts are first scavenged off wrecked and out-of-service trucks, and if they aren't, they may not be replaced. Trucks generally come out of the shop with more problems than they went in with!

As I said in another post, if you're looking at Phoenix Transportation of Georgetown, Kentucky; wait until the economy rebounds, and maybe they'll be around (still) when it does!

Sometimes I wonder if I ever really want to drive again.

Most recent "public" matter is the company bouncing over a 200K tax and title check. When you do something illegal (bouncing checks) it becomes public record. Trucks and trailers were inpounded once they hit the scales or was on the road. Maintenance had to p/u the drivers because they had no way back to Gtown. Within a week, they had to use comdata to pay the "direct deposit" employees because, *wink, *wink another glitch in the system. Of course speculation is , that the insufficient funds were covered but didn't have money to pay the drivers from one account so why not charge up the comdata account to pay .

Remember when you do something illegal , it becomes public record.
