Don't forget to mention that even if you do get hired they'll look for any little reason they can find to get in your pocket and take back some of that money you workedso hard for.

Personally, I'd feel pretty good if I made the cut with a company that has a rigorous employment process. That tells me that they don't hire just any ol' hack like so many of 'em do.
It would also tell me that I'm not working for a driver mill. I sure wish I could understand and sympathize with this woman's gripe but, I just don't.

I don't see the point of this thread. He's still there, so he must be good enough. I've been to orientations just like the rest of us here and there's always any number of guys who lied about something, fail a drug test, road test or physical, drinking alcohol in the hotel. You name it. Furthermore, with the lack of freight, they can be as picky as they want to be. Supply and demand.

Eh, Terry after what i've been hearing i'm glad i got let go. Did you know that they're trying to charge drivers for having high idle time now?

Go figure... I would've quit if that crap was happening when i drove for them. Especially with trainee's that snore, no way was i sleeping with my truck off.

Yeah, I'm hearing the same rumors. At this time they are still rumors. It would be sad, indeed, if they are true.

I, usually, kept my idle time about 8%, my last idle time was 4.76% There is plenty of waste and I don't blame TMC for cracking down. Having said that, when you are in weather where company policy dictates you idle, your idle percetages should be adjusted.

TMC keeps saying that they do not see any savings on the units testing APU's. I don't understand how their data can show this. I bet no one being forced to pay for excess idle times have an APU.

Maybe this is a scheme to collect enough money to buy the APU's.

"This includes a test very similar to the general knowledge you take when getting your permit on the very first day there."

except TMC's tests are OPEN BOOK and also involve common sense questions and elementary school level general math. I finished all 3 tests while the guy next to me was still baffled by the first question. not sure if he made it or not.

it is true that you could be sent home from orientation if you can't.....pass the road test......pass the physical......pass the drug test.....do the physical labor of securing/tarping a load......pass 3 open book written tests involving general knowledge.....walk and chew gum at the same time. basically, if they determine that you CAN'T hack it driving a truck, they're NOT going to send you out with a trainer.

and by pass he means 0 questions wrong. :biggrin_25516: yeah I am griping because I dont like to see men go home that needed a job badly. my husband did make it through but he saw alot of good men go home. The truth is if TMC was more honest about their "orientation" they wouldnt have near the # show up. Instead of orientation it should be TMCs job interview or training camp.

Orientation is one long job interview. His recruiter should have said this to him. My husbands recruiter did. I understand that there are lots of people who need jobs right now, but if they can't pass an open book test or driving assessment, they don't need to be there.

Also, there were guys in my DHs class who did get some questions wrong and still made it with a trainer.

From what I see on the road there isn't anything special about TMC drivers. They have the same lost look as the newbies in white, orange, blue and red trucks.

I remember a very annoying women recruiter who presented at the CDL mill, I mean school that I attended. Just a really trashy looking broad, with a shrill voice, that talked way too much and said way too little. She just seemed like some strumpet they snatched from underneath an executive's desk that they decided to make a recruiter. Yuck - talk about road hard and put away wet.
