| Good Morning All, Wel I have a tentative date for orientation at Prime for the 15th of July. So from that date, let the learning begin. I plan on getting a blog started, and I am fairly decent at writing these things, so I should be able to give a real decent picture to prospective drivers of what they may experience. I am not sure if this site will allow me to create such a blog here, so i plan to ask if a link can be placed to update everyone on the process and experience's of my journey into the world of professional truck driving. I plan to make this so that experienced drivers can leave input and advise that may help others, to include myself on the do's and don't's of this ever changing business. Thanks for all of your input on the trucking industry, and the challenges that you as experienced truckers face on a daily basis. Sepr-Fi Nick |

I gotta say you sure were able to make a quick decision as to who to go to with. It's taken me 2 mos. ciphering all this baloney, and talk'n to drivers to figure it out. How did you come to decision? Last edited by mannmk7; 07.03.2008 at 11.49 AM. |

| Good Morning Mannmk7, Well sir, I ran through as much of the information as I could here, and compared that with the website. I made some pre-screen phone calls to different departments in Prime to get the general feel of the staff. I would act as needed to get them talking and asking questions. This gives you a general sense of what the manners may be when someone contacts them. Are they eager to solve a givien problem, do they take the time to insure they give you thier best effort. They did rather well. I contacted several of the beat officers with our local Troop-D of the Highway Patrol. They had no real complaints about the company. There were no real red flags in DOT that I could see. Thier location in relation to my home was a factor, but not as much as one would think. My call this morning to the recruiting staff went rather well. They were nice, responsive, and were able to get things done in a timley manner. I had gone to the Petro truck-stop in Joplin, where I would watch various drivers as they moved in and about the truck stop. I was able to get close enough to listen to conversations between drivers of different companies and listen to some of the problems. Be aware, that this type of stuff takes time. There may be times when you may have to sit for quite some time to get any real intel from them. The conversations may drift into personal issues, and this needed to be filtered out. Then I actually spoke with a couple of drivers. They had both good and not so good comments about the company, but then we all here know that this will occur in almost any company. You then take all of that and use your best judgment. What will work for you, and can you adjust to the situation and make it a positive, even if you feel it to be a negative. As an old Marine, I am very good at this, so this should work out well for me. Hope this helped. Take your time, and weigh what is needed, and filter out what is not. Also ask yourself what you are willing to accept as a negative, and are you willing to make it a positive. Semper-Fi Nick |

I did about the same thing with the exception of contacting the MHP and the different departments at Prime. What departments did you conact by the way? I've decided what I'm going to do. I just gotta get the rest of this remodel done. "Brack'n it down for the simp's" |

| Mannmk7, I contacted the safety, logistics, sales (Three divisions), and HR. All were good to talk with. It's a role play game to gather information. Old tactic, but effective to get a feel. Semper-Fi Nick |
