You get 5 points towards your certification, which is worth approximately a third of a percentage point on percentage. I'm thinking about switching here at the end of the month.

No way they (TMC) put in one of their trucks, and simply said "drive". They explain gear patterns progressive shifting and expected ranges to shift up and down. You may have been jaw-jacking with your new buddies instead of paying attention to the instructors. This happens when you get someone who knows it all before they are told how to do it. Afterwards, they blame the equipment or the instructor for their failures. TMC has some of the best instructors in the business. Your CDL mill of a driver's school set you up for failure they probably tested you on site instead of letting the state do it. Hence the reason you were able to pass your test. If you can back and shift a Freightliner you can #### sure back and shift a Pete, in my opinion. I have driven both and every Peterbilt I have driven has out shifted every Freightliner. Stop the self pity and start some self evaluation and fix the real problem...YOU!

    You call I haul,
    If I can't truck...##### it

the company i work for now has 5 different trucks. all Stars, but set up differently. 2 with 500 hp cats and 8 spds. mine with 475 cat and 13 spd. one with a Cedes and 8 spd. and one with a bulldozer engine and 8 spd. no problem driving them all. No reason you cant slip seat and know what the truck is like and capable of within 5 minutes or miles. o and ive only been driving for 3 years after goin to school at C-1 in little rock. Stop F*&kin around in class, and youll have no problem doin your job.

Ive read this hole thread from page one. alot of days of reading. all i see are, people that cant hack flatbedding, people that shouldnt be in a #### truck (or even a car probably), or just a bunch of babies that thought trucking is the easy way out. truckin has been my life since the 5th grade due to my father doin it all my life. im now 27 and never had a problem. Go back to your McDonalds hamburger flippin job and stay the hell out of our industry.:biggrin_25510:

He's already got more experience than the last load securement instructor at TMC...
Hey Big Show, you gotta quote when you dig back that far so us slow ones follow you right off the bat. I was confused at first but that's actually pretty much how it usually is for me.

You know it's not bad, I mean they do teach how to effectively secure gear, I'm just saying the instructor I had there didn't have much driving experience. It might be because he gets drilled in the face by other TMC drivers when he's out on the road...

What your writting about is common practice and same situation drivers are in and always been in.Long hours, cheating logs and stressed out drivers, sounds normal to me.It's a merry go round, Guy fresh out of Truck driving school and told a bunch of fluff by the recuiters and trainers and the fancy trucks.High cost of operation and low paying freight companies are pushing their drivers hard to make a profit. If you have an accident or get caught by the DOT your on your own.Need to cover your #$$ because they will have theirs covered for sure.Remember all those papers you signed? You mess up,they get rid of you and the process starts all over again.Every large trucking company operates this way.
