You (The Driver) don't get to decide.

That activity is to be logged on line 4 (on duty, not driving). Bet it has never netted anyone a ticket, though.

are you serious? i am sure they will cover this in school, but if i want to give my truck a quick cleaning while i am at home on a day or two off, i sure as heck aren't going to log it as 'on duty'.

    Congratulations!!
You, sir are on your way to "Lifestyler" status!

You will fit right in at the Truckstop lunch counter, no doubt telling tales of "How I Told That DOT Man What the Law Really Was!", and other such stories of truckdriving lore!

    P.S.

Don't forget to placard your shirt!

    I wouldn't either.

But, in the event of an accident the DOT can, and will, check all of your receipts against your logbook, as will an attorney for any injured partys. And should a company required truck wash be logged on other than line 4, you are going to be in trouble.

Technically, perhaps. But who cares? No cop, no matter how anal, would push that issue.

Besides, who would be stupid enough to deprive themselves of revenue-producing hours, a.k.a driving hours by logging the things you noted on line 4? If people really want to shoot themselves in the foot in such a manner, then what can anyone say?

Don't expect a response on this one. If he felt inclined to mention that we all may wind up there. Well, not me anyway. I'm happy where i'm at.

Who really cares. Just hope that never loses his nice kooshie job. I am not one to say what he is saying is true or not. If he can make that, great. But i'm not wasting anymore time on that guy. has not posted anything on here worth while to read.

    MACK E-6 Thanks this.
