I've done alot of looking into TMC, and I like what I see and hear. Don't think that I personally am going to listen to someone that seems to certainly have no clue about what he's talking about. As far as I see it, anyone can tell you of their great accomplishments on the internet. Problem is that they never will have to prove them. My point? Timtruck has done it all and has all of the answers. But, has he ever actually driven for TMC? That is what I would like to know.

In case you are wondering, I drive for an LTL company, I'm not gonna say who because they are not the greatest company in the US, but they are one of the most stable companies, seeing they owe no money, own all their equipment outright and are a privately held carrier and we are non-union. I usually average over $1000 per week after taxes and insurance. That is based on $.46 per mile plus bonuses. I have worked 2 weekends since I have been there for over 2 years. These kind of jobs are out there if you look for them. Our company only requires you to have either school and 6 months experience or 1 year experience. But you also must carry both a doubles endorsement and a hazmat endorsement.
I eventually plan on going back to the road, but with the economy the way it is, I probally will stay where I am at for a while.

what is the chance of a buddy of mine working for tmc if he failed a pre employment drug screen for werner about 7 or 8 years ago the recruters told us to apply it would be worth a shot if it has been more than 5 years and every thing else is clean as a whisle he is weeling to take a drug test every weak or when ever and he will pay for it out of his on pocket just a bad dumb mistake and he has paid for it dearly

Obviously there will be no reciept for that.
What I was talking about was getting a truck wash at a Blue Beacon or the like. There will be reciepts for that, and any other reciepts that you have saved for reimbursement will also be examined. These folks are very thorough, and they WILL discover any BS that you think you have pulled on your company, or in your logs. Do not mistake the quick log check at a scale for the intense scrutiny that your records will be subjected to after an accident.

In your case, I would reccomend not trying to find ways of fudgeing your log book before you have even started driving. You are headed down the wrong road here.

My thinking is, and always has been- If I have to cheat my logs just to make a decent living, jeopordizing my license, and my freedom, then I am working in the wrong place.

There are legal ways of doing things that will maximize your working availability, learn them.

Respectfully,
-M

It is worth a shot, but when they run your background, and they contact your previous employers(which they will) the three things that an employer are required by law to tell them is 1. Did you fail a drug screen that they administered anytime either before or during your employment. 2. The exact dates that you worked there. 3.Were you terminated or did you quit. These are the only 3 things that other companies are required to tell them by law. Some companies will not hire you if you EVER failed a drug screen and some will. The recruiters of course will tell you that it is worth a shot, but ultimately they do not ok your hire, the safety dept does--you may want to run it by them, before you waste your time applying. BTW, a failed drug screen also goes on your DAC report. It all depends on what the safety dept and the insurance carrier says. I know that you will say that TMC is self-insured and most of the big companies are, but they still have a plan-administrator company that administers all there insurance no matter whether it is self-insurance or not--because they legally cannot pay or investigate their own claims because that would be a conflict of interest. So I would definitely run it by their safety dept. A lot of companies will not hire you with a previous drug test failure and some will. Lucky for him, it was not a DUI or DWI or I guarantee that TMC would never hire him, no matter what.

TMC has it's quirks. But every company does, when it comes right down too it, the only difference is the name on the door. I don't get screwed, i make good money, ride nice equipment that is maintained to MY Standards, and is washed once a week at the companies expense. I'm also home whenever i want to be.

I love TMC. But, if you're lazy, selfish, arrogant or whatever, i'd look someplace else. It takes a very special, hard working and prideful individual to make it with us. We take alot of pride in our equipment, and the job that we do.

Like I said, it all depends on the company--The last company that I worked for would not hire you if you EVER had a felony, but could hire you if you had a DUI or DWI as long as it was more than 10 years old. I have run into several companies out there that will not hire you if you ever had a misdemeanor. The company that I work for now will not hire you if your misdemeanor is less than 10 years old, and your DUI/DWI must be more than 15 years old and if you have a felony they may consider it on a case by case basis, but it cannot involve interstate commerce or money. It all depends on the company--just like your driving record, some will hire you if you have no moving violations in the last say 5 years and some will hire if you have no more than 6 points and so forth, and some such as Wal Mart, you cant have anything in your background at all going back 5 years including accidents that are not even your fault. Some of these companies will bend the rules a little bit or allow for leniency depending on your age and the age of the problem, but they are all different--that is why I suggested that they run the record before the safety department, since they have the ultimate say-so at most companies. You are correct about the 5 year thing, but that is just to obtain a CDL, not necessarily a job to go with it.
