ya but you forgot to mention that pay scale includes perdiem witch means their really not paying you .36 a mile out of their pocket because their getting that perdiem back from uncle IRS.I won't work for a co. that pays perdiem cause I prefer to claim it myself at the end of the year.

I opt out, it's a pain that you have to do it every year now but it works.

No grasshopper, knight never says that, read the bright glossy poster carefully it says you TAKE home more on per-diem.

For $#*('s sake, just claim more dependents on your W-2 if you want to have less taken out, then claim your per-deim at the end of the year. Now you've gotten bigger paydays and lower taxes plus an extra 2 cents per mile. Cha ching.

it's the argument the payroll dweebs in phoenix give each time somebody wants to get off of per-diem.

I'm on per-diem now, and the DMs run the crap outta me. Now, if I request to get off of per-diem and actually get off of per-diem, then I wouldn't be surprised if my weekly milage goes down as a result. If they can't make the extra .02 cents per mile off of you, then they would figure that it would be better to give the miles to another driver who is still on per-diem. This is not coincidence. Just a shady business practice. The only way to fight it is to get off of per-diem. Crooks. Every last one of 'em.

    Big Don Thanks this.

I mean, what can I say? Knight Transportation has got to be THE best TL company in the USA. Let's face it: working somewhere else is total blasphemy. What do I like about the company? Prepare to indulge yourselves in a completely random and POSITIVE rave about this company.

Let's start with the trucks. The company has late model Volvo's and Pete's. So many truck colors to choose from. You have a choice between red, dark red, light red, other red, strawberry red, apple red, haven't been washed since last rainstorm red, and dirt lot red. Interested in racing a big-rig down the highway? Don't worry. Your truck comes equipped with 8 racing slicks. Hell yeah! Be the envy of every DOT officer as he writes you a nifty citation out of sheer jealousy for your sweet slicks. Just be prepared for that same DOT officer to ignore you when you tell him: "But the company mechanics says that my tires are okay...". Because we all know that company mechanics are godly. Oh yeah, be prepared for a tow truck also for obvious reasons.

Are you sick of finding trailers at your current company that have proper tires on them? Are you sick of having trailers available at all? Then worry no more, because at this company, not only will you get to play trailer scavenger hunt or trailer musical chairs, but there are times where you will find a trailer with flat tires and then be asked to drive xx amount of miles to the nearest truck stop to have the tires worked on. How awesome is that!!!

Speaking of mechanics, this company has the coolest, easy-going mechanics that I have ever dealt with. They are neither rude, nor disrespectful, and seem to carry a down-to-earth glow wherever they go. So, a BIG KUDOS to all you company mechanics. You guys rock!!!

The company shower stalls are excellent also. Leave it to the super clean Knight truck drivers to clean up after themselves and leave such a sparkly shower stall for the next driver. Thanks Knight drivers. You guys rock just as hard as the mechanics!!!

Pay is cool too, but the real kicker is the per-diem that you are not forced to go on. I literally had to beg and plead to STAY ON PER-DIEM!! Man, per-diem is such a hook up deal, I'm lovin' it!!!! If I could completely work for free and drive butt-naked down the highway, then you bet your behind that I would do that! In a sonic-second!!!

Electronic logs. So complete that it "just works"! Why think for myself when I can have my hand held every step of the way? If my brain had an on-off switch, then I would switch it off in a heartbeat, no doubt about it. No need for me to think for myself. That is what the dispatchers are for! Why should I stay a human being with common sense when I could remotely have someone do everything for me besides actually driving the truck?

I also like how Knight transportation is not just one company. It's a bunch of companies. Wanting to transfer to one terminal from another because you're thinking about relocating (moving)? Simply quit the company, and reapply for the same company! How cool is that? No other carrier is like this at all!!!

So if you're sceptical at all about working here, then I say go for it, man! This company rocks the hardest! Maybe it doesn't rock quite as hard as Swift or Werner, but it still rocks on up there. What are you waiting for? Why are you still reading this?? Geturdone!!!
