No problem, we do what we can. I think ANY company that uses the term "recruiter" is one that should be avoided.

That's the thing, The Knight family...more power to them. That's what makes the USA so great, anyone can get rich. However having to check my paystubs to see that loads I scaled weren't reimbursed. Oh and the classic and popular refusal to waste a day live unloading a trailer off the yard only to be promised that I would be paid and then not paid and a terminal manager that basically thought he would save all he could from drivers accessory pay since they would be quitting next week anyways. Yea, thanks but no thanks.

Same 4 me. I often pissed them off by getting a load from another dispatcher in another part of the country, or Night Dispatch in Phoenix, so I could get out of places like Florida and Washington states with a load, instead of sitting for 2-3 days. I'd get a call from my dispatcher 2 days later to pick up a load, and I'd tell him I already got one. Sometimes I was 2 loads ahead of him by doing that. Maybe that's why I don't work there anymore.

This type of activity was commonplace, especially when freight was extremely slow last year around this time. Some drivers toughed it out by calling Phoenix dispatch for a load whenever they got tired of sitting and waiting for their DM to assign them a load. Then there were those drivers who were so frustrated from babysitting a truck for days on end and not making any money that they just decided to turn in their keys and find somewhere else to work. Quitting a job while frustrated at certain situations is not really a bright idea.

Freight slows down for everyone, but when you hear other drivers complain of losing their homes due to the low income it gets very sad. It's neither the company nor the driver's fault. There are many risks out here to consider when making a decision to drive for a living, especially those people that I will never understand that "got tired" of their good paying career to all of a sudden become a truck driver. Be prepared before making a decision on what truck company to consider driving for.

A driver can work at Knight if they want, but be wary of catching "red fever" whenever you start to get sick of the crap.

Awesome post! I was looking for information regarding Knight Transportation. I remember talking to a Knight recruiter back in 2002 when I was in search of a trucking job. Fortunately, it never worked out for me and I'm glad I never went to work for them.

Yea I too had considered a few companies and later after reading about them here, I'm glad I didn't. Unfortunately I did not know of this website before working for Knight. Wish I had known but then I never would have gotten that "reborn first day of the rest of my life" feeling when I quit Knight.

New info on Knight- My friend who works there is currently seeking other employment after over 3 years with this outfit. Her dispatcher in Seattle was promoted to term manager and her next dp was sent to PHX to work at corporate. And I guess the new guy they gave her is a knightmare.

Wants her to stay out 3 weeks instead of 10 days because, as he put it , due to lack of frt in SW and driver layover lowering the fleets monthly miles.

Then she got her review and was in the top 3 of everything except miles. She fell below 10,500 per month (9,895) because she does not stay out as long as some, but has had four 2 day layovers in the last 2 months. So no raise.

Then she is told that ALL knight trucks would now be governed at 63 mph (hers currently does 66mph) due to rising cost of fuel.

This is bull because they have already have been turning down trucks at some term for months even before fuel prices started going up again. Before maintaining below 10% idle was all you needed, now it is not to keep speed up, but to get a raise each year.

So she decided that with lack of home time, 2 days every 3 weeks. No APU's but under 10% idle and 63mph trucks. And to many trucks in the SW for the frt base. She is going elsewhere. Her last day will be at the end of the month. No regrets or complaints. Just not her cup of tea anymore.

Knights already F'ed themselves beyond repair. Hope they spend all that "shaved" money wisely.

By doing away with the stupid little idle incentive to increase the top speed and instead governing them all to 63, how much fuel is that going to save? Oh yea a drivers going to sweat and freeze for an annual raise they know their going to screwed out of anyways. On top of that show me a Knight driver that isn't looking for a new job anyways. While their job searching you can bet your bottom dollar their going to be quite comfortable.

Knights run by the most clueless, arrogant, thieving, sonsabitches, you'll ever see.

I wouldn't be here spending 15 minutes a week smashing Knights face into a brick wall if it wasn't for the treatnent recieved by Steve Cota. Wonder boy ticked me off and now your paying for it. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
