Knight does have a Idle Control on their trucks, I know because I currently work for them. They will only idle for 5 minutes if its under 70 degrees or over 28 degrees. And the bunk heaters SUCK!!!!

WOW....My experience with knight started on the wrong foot but after conversations with higher ups all issues have been resolved. I do have to say some of the things that have happened to most of these drivers has happened to me too, BUT I know the trucking industry is like this and roll with the punches. NO JOB IS PERFECT....At least one person will complain about something at some point in their stint there. I am lucky and thankful to have a job, trucking does it for me. Even if it is with Knight I give them a "B" as far as good companies....Could be worse I could still be at "Puppy Mill" aka C R ENGLAND.....

I just started with knight two weeks ago. I personally drove about 2600 miles with my trainer. I did have severe issue swith my trainer but the company acknowledged this and corrected the issue. I am at home awaiting a new trainer by the end of the week.

As for the bunk heaters holy crap they will cook you alive if you are not careful.. I cant say that i have had severly unfavorable conditions. The company addressed my one issue.
The trucks are governed and the idle thing is correct I believe but with the bunk heaters you shouldnt go cold and you can idle in Summer.

  5. Just so I understand this...You cannot idle unless it's colder than 28 and warmer than 70?

I'd really like to see some of the office people sleep without heat when it's 29 degrees outside, but 70 is a good temp.

That's not the only problem. A lot of drivers like to maybe watch some TV or use their laptop for the first hour or two of their break. With the truck not running you can't do either. You'll wake up to dead batteries. Knight doesn't call service. Your just kind of on your own.

What a shame you can't idle those trucks and nothing like waking up knowing the speed of your truck has dropped 5 miles an hour because you chose to sleep in comfort.

Don't believe us? Go see for yourself how great Knight is........

Knight is another one of those, "one call that's all" companies.

Again a driver who has not worked for Knight for how long? Who does not know what he is talking about. The INT's have four batteries and even with 3 in the Volvo you can run that stuff if you actually do a pretrip and the batteries are holding a charge. If your batteries go dead then there is a problem with them. I know guys that run there heaters all nite and watch tv etc.. and they just turn the key for a few minutes before they hit the sack and have no problems.

And then if the drivers would read that little booklet that comes with the bunk heaters they would know you can adjust the heater so it does not get to hot.

A company would have to be filled with fools to let there drivers blow the kind of money it costs to idle these days out the stack so your whining just shows how ignorant you are to what it costs to run a trucking company.

    tracyq144 and Stevejun1986 Thank this.

A company would also have to be filled with fools to not provide an alternative to idling. You talk about Knight like you just run in for service "real quick" The truck starts you aren't getting service. They don't care the bunk heaters only work an hour or two before cutting off.

Have fun with that whole Knight thing BlueBallz.....:biggrin_2559:

Beware of Trans AM if you sign up for training with them you will be forced to complete an go to work for them or they will put you on the street and still bill you for all the training provided , even though you will have driven a truck making your coach 45 cents per mile. Believe me you will need to check this company out before you apply. They have two offices 1 in Rochwall TX and 1 in Olathe KS.
