Driving over there? For whom? Curious, I did for a year...and I couldn't stand it. Left my family behind to come back to OTR.

Please don't tell me I lost my mind, I just like what I like.

Even with the economy being what it is, they have 29 terminals across the USA, and every tuesday... AT EACH TERMINAL they have orientation. This must say something about Knight in itself. They ran me good the first week, then I'd run for 1000 to 1500 miles, then sit for 3-5 days... because I was the (example) 64th truck empty in that area. So, on that, the first 24 hours are on my dime as far as layover is concerned, BUT! On the 22nd hour, 2 hours before my paid layover was to begin, my Qualcomm would go off and it would be a msg from the area planner via my FM telling me to take my empty trailer to XYZ warehouse so they can load their weekend freight, then go back to the truckstop and hopefully we'll find something, thus restarting the layover clock. When they ran me from LA to Denver, they reloaded me to Kansas City KS to keep me ahead of a blizzard. Great! Now I'm getting miles!! But no!! They park me in KC until the storm hits, then sends me to Lawrence KS in freezing rain and snow to find an empty trailer. By the time I find one, get hooked to it pre-trip it, the snow is coming down heavy. Beat tracks over to Independence MO, get loaded for Kankakee IL, leave the caves, then an air line ruptured on the maxi on the trailer. So, I pinch off air line, run it over to Oak Grove to get it fixed, fought with the repair shop in Phoenix to pay the repair bill, even though I had a PO number for it. Finally get ahead of the storm... Again. Ok, maybe some miles now... Naw, sit in their Joliet Yard for another 3 1/2 days till they track me back to KC where I sat for another 2 1/2 days. My FM then has the gall to tell me that Knight Doesn't specialize in east-west freight. They lane their trucks north and south. Oh, by the way, They hired me as an 11 western driver. Also, if you need to be reimbursed for bulbs, wipers, etc, they won't reimburse you. They only reinburse you on CAT scales if you write your trip # on them. The Knight family is so crooked, they can't even lay in bed straight!! Give them time... They will hose you, sooner or later, you won't see it coming.

Knight was not a good fit for me!!! They care more about their shareholders than anyone behind the wheel of their mediocre equipment!! BTW, they told us in orientation that some of their shareholders were: Swift, WERNER, J B hunt, Marten, and Crash and Roll England.

I don't even work for Knight, but I know that if you are west regional you don't go out of region or the dm's and load plnrs in the area you are in will turn you into a sock washing, belt loop holding, lolly boy.

Do people going to Knight not know what "hometown carrier" means? You stay out of others backyards or get spanked.:biggrin_255:

I'm surprised the bottom feeders have not figured out a way to float your #### to the west coast to deliver OTR freight in MO.

Giving Knight 5 plus years, and out of the Northwest, Knight is debt free and having a great dispatcher, I wouldnt trade a thing. Home weekly and driving 2500 miles a week. This is my own situation, and not complaining. DRIVE SAFE

as much i have heard about Knight, i WOULD NOT drive for them. I have talked to a few of their drivers, heard nothing good. Talked to a fm, i even got a bad report from them. I work for a 150 truck outfit, and have it good here. To me Knight is a "Red Swift". Unforunalty, some people don't have a choice (newbies or bad Dacs) but to drive their. Good luck to everyone.

Man, Im glad I never had to work for an OTR company. Some of these companies sound like fly by nite operations.

    I feel for you guys.
