| are you solo or team bronco? also, how does one get a 780? I know they are rare at swift and have seen two but have seen a lot of 670's and columbias. KH |

| No the Prostars are DCI only, I actually prefer to be able to open the sleeper windows and hang my fan in one and get a cool breeze, but if the temps in the 80's I am going to idle. Its also getting harder to do this and not get choking cigarette smoke or exhaust fumes in the cab too. I will idle if I feel its necessary, until they decide to put me in one of those crank every 20 mins trucks then I will be gone. I am home now after 2 weeks on the road, 1st week I had perfect weather and had a 7 day idle % of less than 1%. The 2nd week it was sweltering and the idle was over 30% for those 7 days. You can guarantee they wont combine the 2 weeks and see 15.5 % avg, they will send a nasty gram for the 2nd week and make out like you are a idle abuser and treat you like a 12 year old. They are making it harder and harder to take them seriously. I refuse to use Idleaire, I hear it costs almost 25.00 to use them for a 10 hr break. Thats what Swift suggested I do BTW if I couldnt sleep in a hot truck. I wonder how many of these guys that are claiming all this low idle %are using Idleaire, $75.00 to $100.00 or more a week used to keep Swifts idle % low so they can save more $ after they have taken so much already is pathetic IMO. |

| It was $18 for me last time I used it (idleair), that was two years ago and I had a company paid gold account. I liked it at first but those things suck smoke into the filters and it's like plugging a giant ashtray into your window after a while. I started smoking again since then, (last boss had a temper and I was stuck living in a trailer with him, grr) so maybe it wouldn't be so bad. I like not having to look for a location, a parking spot, a unit that isn't broken when they claim it isn't, etc. I've got an aircard and a small company that could care less if I idle. I sure wish they'd stop sending me into the eastern mountains though. 475 cat = good. 475 cat that they think is a 550 plugged into a ten speed = oh god another hill. |

| tha last time i used idle air it was 1.99 for the day. i dont use it alot just a few times most of the time i can find a good spot in the mall parking lot that i unload at (i run sears) . i dont go to truck stops if i dont have too. most malls have room off to the side out of the way and are safe to sleep with the windows down.anyway i got this 780 when i started they told me to pick out any truck on the ready line.im going to start the paperwork to buy it as soon as i get the down payment saved up it is a very nice truck and is great shape.i have some pics of it on here if you want to check it out . i run solo my wife does go with me sometimes but she does not drive Last edited by BRONCO; 06.08.2009 at 01.01 AM.. | I just had 2 weeks in a row now under 6% Idle. I'm also of the view that I'll idle when I can't stand the heat. I run strictly the north east and it hasn't been to bad these last 2 weeks. I recomend the window screens that are available at the TA Truckstops. They are $30 a pair and I got the big screens. They also make a short one that only has the window glass down halve way. Combining the screens with a reflective windshield shade and a curtain I also bought at the truckstop keeps the heat down pretty good during the day. I bought a turbo fan (I forget the name it goes by) that advertises a high air flow rate. I wouldn't recommend it though. If you run it on full blast the plug gets real hot almost to the point of melting. I can handle up to about75degrees during the day with the cab in the sun before I have to idle. At 5% idle the truck is getting 6.64 mpg. At 20% idle it loses .2 mpg. If a fleet's goal is 6 mpg and you can achieve better mpg by slowing down, I bet you wouldn't be bothered as much about idling. I'm trying to control my idle now along with my driving habits so I can idle during my breaks when it is too hot. Even idle are doesn't have to be used the whole break. Load a card with 5 hours worth so you get a good nap and it shuts down after you've had 1 cycle of rem sleep. When or if you wake because of heat you will have had at least had 1 good cycle of sleep. I plan on using idle air this way 2 nights a week, keeping an eye on the forcast to decide what days it would be smart to use this summer. In Connecticut, the truckstop on I-95 exit 93 is currently offering free an idle air like service of it's own. It only supplies heat and air and was Half the price of idle air. It is trying to rebuild the business it lost before it was redone. As drivers start coming back to this stop they will evetually charge again but still FREE for now.

| i need to get a set of screens and 30 bucks is not bad .sure would help keep the bees out. i have not even look at them but i think i can get them from my dm . if he wants to help keep me at 0 % idle. never hurts to ask right |

| I know what you meant but 0% idle time I know what you meant was no idling when you park which is great, as long as you can get the rest you need, but if you are actually getting 0% idle time I would be interested in knowing how. You would have to shut the engine off at all stoplights and stop signs to get there. Not trying to be a smartxxx just checking to see if you actually were getting 0% idle and if so, how. |

| Cool truck Bronco. I would buy it too and upgrade to 500HP. KH
