| Gotta Get Into This Hello folks This is my first post I think and I am also a Swift driver. I was informed last week that the idle time is now down to 14% Got a nasty gram last week and two weeks afore got a atta boy. Today I got another attaboy again cos my ideling was 10% I dont try as maybe I should. Like others have mentioned, if its hot its ideling and if its cold its ideling. I judge which is which. Went into the terminal last home time and was talking about this to my DM, he said his fleet was the best and now its the worst for ideling. I mentioned to him that it was nice and cool in the office terminal, he didnt like that, neither do any of the others. Put your office desk out in the yard winter and summer then!! For anyones information. Most of the trucks in Swift still have the opti idle. Mine is the icon system. If you remove the middle fuse on top of the batteries the engine will idle until it runs out of fuel. I found that out when I got my first truck and the opti system was not working in the depth of winter. I went to the shop and they pulled this fuse. I questioned this about the ideling and so forth. Tech head told me that not to worry this was a test truck and I would never be pulled for over ideling. They sold that truck, bummer. We got a new President as Jerry has had to lie low. He sez he wants to spend time with his family, and travel. As with all new heads of companies, new broom sweeps clean. I have to agree with other posters on here. I am a company driver but the o/o I have spoken to are convinced they are being starved out. I declined a 25 mile load to-day that would have taken hours in the wee hours of the morning to complete because of the lumpers, time they take. I was told if I did not take the load I would sit until tomorrow at the least. I am being punished, bummer too. I am sitting right now in the TA in Baltimore, and I am from the West coast. I will sit here ideling with the fuse out, and when I finally return to my home terminal I am resigning period. I have driven for other companies and have lots of experience. Core carriers are about all the same in operation etc. Swift in this drivers opinion has got to be the worst of them all, never will I drive for them again nor will I recommend them to anyone. Jerry wrecked the company with his dodgy dealings. The new prezzie Richard Stockton is killing it. Time to jump afore the ship sinks. For what its worth Sena |

| There are always ways around things. We all know certian things about our trucks that we can get away with. I keep my idle down on my company truck below 5% all the time. This is even with the seldom 15 min. charge of the batteries if needed. As long as i have a fan im good in the heat but just like many, there are times to break the heat while sitting. I do use the super cool the truck method at night before i sleep so i can get to sleep and sleep well. I have no opti idle nor TAS on my truck and it never runs in the early hours of the morning while im sleeping unless i get the low battery beep bringing forth the 15 min. charge again. We just need to do what we can for how ever long this depression or what have you, lasts. I am thankful to have a job since there is not many out there. I do not agree with the idle policy since every driver is different and i also know its flawed in its calculations. Swift can look in other places to save money but due to the world wide consistant "Greed" way of life, they wont and will continue to take it out on the easy targets... US. Hang in there and be safe not only on the road, but to your health as well.

I'll let you in on a secret: They don't care about you! Maybe if the would ever make good on the favors (or how about giving a 90 day review at, I dunno around 90 days not 7 months) you'd have people being more helpful, but when your whole business plan is based on jamming in as far and as deep as you can for as long as you can because you can always get more bailout money (I mean government funded CDL training) then you have a problem. And for the record, I've turned down #### loads only to get shot a great one right after. |

| I siad it before and I'll say it again. Putting Obama in as comedian in chief was a big mistake America. All you drivers out there that were praising him last fall, where are they at now? I said repeatedly that voting him in would likely cost you your job or at least cause a big pay cut and where are we now? Swift and the rest are just reacting to what's out there but IMO the drivers are the ones paying the biggest price. If I were making $1000 a week out here, I could care less about idling because I would just stay in motels most nights and still bring home more than what's out here now. But they want me to take a big pay cut AND live out here in the truck uncomfortably as well? It's slim pickins' no doubt. So again for those that voted for Obama, you have yourselves to thank and IMO you should be the first to get the boot for voting while intoxicated.
