We were told lies, lies and more lies to go to this company, which cost us both time and money and of course lost revenue. I am so displeased with the way we were recruited into this company that I am actually doing this to warn others.

We just came back home from attending orientation at Trans-Carriers in Memphis and I am writing this to warn all of you to stay away from them. Jim Mountjoy is one big fat liar, who did not back up one thing told to us when he recruited us.

We asked a lot of questions before commiting to them, including pay, what kind of routing method they use, insurance, pet policy, home time policy and anything else you can possibly think of.

The biggie for us is our dog, which is in the 40some pound range, which we tell anyone when looking for work. Why waste our or their time. We were told that with an extra pet deposit we would be able to do that without a problem. I was listening to the conversation on a extension, so I know my hubby understood him right.

We were told we would be able to go home every 10-14 days for about 3-4 days.

The pay would be based on practical miles, not any of these ripoff programs.

They have "great" insurance, with 3 different plans available.

Pay wasn't the best, 38 cents a mile split, with a 2 cent a month bonus.

All in all they sounded good. So we went there on Sunday, spent all day yesterday doing things, like safety, peepee test and whatever else they threw at us. Today we came back to the usual mountain of paperwork, which told a completely different story than what Mr. Mountjoy told us Friday last week.

Here it goes, no pets over 15 pounds, with a $500 nonrefundable deposit (he forgot to mention the deposit was nonrefundable). No exceptions to this, no matter what. I guess I could shoot my dog for the good of the company.

1 day off for every 7 out. NO ifs ands and buts on this either.

They pay HHG miles and he never said different to us and the others in orientation who were told practical miles also. Mind you, there was 5 of us, who he told differently last week.

While we settled for the pay offered, 3 of the other drivers with a ton of experience where told they would get better, and yes, you guessed it, they were told to sign a document saying it was significantly less then promised and that they could talk to Mr. Mountjoy later about that, of course, after they already signed off on it.

After a quite unpleasant talk with the liar himself we walked out. We are back home now, looking again for a better company. One that is honest, gives you the good and the bad, doesn't lie, steal or cheat you. Accepts our dog (being without children, he is my child), pays fairly, gets you home for more than a few hours a week and has decent equipment.

I guess that they don't exist, except in fairy tales.

They don't exist. At least not a company that will get you home 3-4 days every 10-14. That's a LOT to ask from a company in this day and age. I know it's not unreasonable, but it's just plain uneconomical to get a driver home once every few days unless he's running regional. OTR guys should expect to be on the road 14-21 days then two days at the house. Three if he's lucky.

Dave Dudley whined and #####ed about being on the road only SIX days. I bet he'd die today. You already know that after six days today, many drivers are just getting in their first showers.

    Ahh, the good ol' days.

Like I said, those were the things offered to us, we did not ask for them, well except the pet thing.

Trans-Carrier is a bad egg, and this isn't the first time that they have been mentioned. I have read of at least ten civil cases that have been in court against them.

I'm glad to hear that you walked away, rather than to have become another victim.

Thanks for the kind words turbo trucker. I have posted this on another board, just to see what kind of response I get, in addition to warning people, and I have been blasted by people about what happened.

Mainly by the pets are unsafe in the truck crowd, but also by those, that figured I should accept the lies. Hello, wake up McFly, but if more of us take a stand, maybe some of the treatment would improve.

So, thanks, keep it between the lines.

You can count on this sort of thing not happening here. We don't tolerate this sort of treatment of honest posters. The moderators here take pride in the job they do keeping things civil in here.

While I welcome anyone's opion, because others may always be able to shed some light on a situation, I appreciate they way this board is handled, since it is not too much fun to find yourself shredded to pieces.

    Thanks for the good work.

I have much respect for the mods on this board. And for the members as a whole. If someone gets out of hand the mods are right there to nip it in the bud.

Well, after looking at my W-2 statement @ $26,500 for 2006 I realized that I had a problem.TCAR has good drop-n-hook capability, but piss poor preplan. The lack of preplan has robbed me greatly.I made 45/47 w/Tyson Foods and 26G is equivilent to 25 cpm.I have talked till I am blue in the face with these people.I will and have exhausted all means to bump up my miles to no avail....Communication one on one is easy, paroll automation is reliable.Good equipment.Trailers and tires ok.Good travel lanes mostly 81 corridor. No other drop yards,no scale on main yard.

I stay in this trk from 3/4 weeks,we all know these trks can do approx 3650 miles p/wk,no problem.TCAR has a bounus system with a .36 cpm cap.The bonus system is nothing to count on,you can only qualify after 2650 miles which rarely happens and when you hit 2650,2 goons look for qualcomm violations to disqual you from bonus,so dont buy a house!I am constantly over my 14 hrs everyday since I began work 1.5 years ago. They pre plan you over the 14 hr rule to trip you up on the bonus. They can get you home on time.but....if you are in a trk to make money...this company is not for you...26g on my W-2 proves it.
