Wrong, they are doing better than ever. my best friend has worked for them for the last 15 years and says it keeps getting better.

Riiiiiiight. If not getting a pay raise since 1999 qualifies as one of the top ten best fleets, I would hate to see the top ten worst... Revamping a bonus program doesnt count as a payraise in my book.

They are a good starter company for those with no experience...just for the sake of getting of getting your foot in the door and staying out of trouble. .37 per mile top pay for van is laughable in this day and age. .30 per mile even for rookies is sub-par and insulting if you ask me.

Ask a Halvor driver to show you what he/she really makes before bonus, talking about pay and benefits kind of carries a certain taboo here. You can never count on a bonus, all they are is a gimmick to get you to run more cheap miles. A few breakdowns and layovers, combined with slow weeks of inbound and outbound freight and you base pay is all you get...that is reality

Reading through this, sorting it all out, no one has really come forward and said what the biggest problem is here. You see, Halvor is not a place where you can simply do your job, work hard, keep your mouth shut and make good money. It is more like a high school homecoming king and queen popularity contest. What I am saying is that unless you get involved in all the gimicks, dog and pony shows and politics at this company, you will be cast aside for miles and any good runs here...unless they are suddenly busy and need to cut your hometime short, run you on a hot load to the east coast, and forget about you for almost two days after you deliver.

If you dont dance their dance, just like a typical trucking company they will find a way to fire you, make your life miserable, and smear your DAC like they did me.

I recognize some of the names on here too, you that whine and complain in the break room as much as the rest of the drivers, then stab everyone in the back by twisiting it around and spreading lies to the owners and dispatchers.

In 2008 I remember one of our company newsletters telling us all we need to run more miles and be more profitable, right after turning all the trucks down to 65 and all their freight and accounts falling apart. Work harder and longer for even less money...this is what qualifies as one of the top ten best fleets to drive for.

No and no way will I ever again give my time and energy to get paid short miles for chump change, and be treated like dirt. Supposedly they have changed, some drivers Ihave talked to swear by them, some swear about them. :biggrin_2559: It would take a lot of convincing and coaxing for me to even consider them as an employer. They left a pretty bad taste in my mouth a couple years back. I have since come to the realization that Halvor Lines and I are better off without each other.

Seriously though, I have a good enough work record and driving record, hopefully I am never stuck working for a bigger company again.

good all. I use to work for Halvor lines to. May 2017 to July 2017. Be weary if you last this long. If you put a scratch on the bumper of the truck the safety guy will put this on ya DAC report. If ya fifth wheel needs adjusted and you watch the mechanic he will not torque the bolts to spec. I call him out on that. This incident even got put on my DAC report. The worst is the aerodynamic wings that are on a trailer. If you make to tight of a "U" turn they can be ripped off, OOPS. did do a little damaged to a property. cops were called there was suppose to be a police report. Never got one. The company did not even get the report to me, the driver. So after 3 months safety said to many incidents in a short time and left me go. But what really pisses me off the company has the nerve to put this crap on DAC report.
I don't remember the pay back then. But I did do reefer. I did more dry in the reefer then reefer. Not sure if they still have the reefer division. Now the company has the opportunity to earn your CDL through them. Since I still have my CDL and have a messed up DAC report NO COMPANY will hire me. I even tried to negotiate with Halvor lines and it did not go anywhere.

How many incidents on your DAC report? There's some companies that will hire you.
It's been 4 years, so you're hirable. Driver with a worse DAC than yours are fired and hired within days.
@jmjrpid7581 - Magnum Ltd. might hire you, and there's more also.

That's not much to worry about. Drivers on this forum have as many a 6 incidents and still found a new driving job.
Do you still want to hit the road?
