| Swift the Worst Co I Have Been with Swift for 2 1/2 years. They are the worst co out there they do not care about there Drivers at all. I was hurt on the job my doc. dose not want me to go back to work and they keep tell me that i have to go back to work on light duty. That is not bad but they want me to work for $7.40 a hr for 12 hrs a day for 3 day on the weekends and take a bus there and the bus dose not go there . this is a bad co and i would not work for them if they where the last co out there. |

As far as I know if the doc says NO working and it is workmans comp related the employer can not make you work at all as that would be violating your Docs work restrictions... If I am not mistaking this would fall under a workmans comp violation that you could probably sue them for..... Just my .02 worth since I have been on WC since St.Patricks day..... |

| I cant say Swift is the worst co. out there,but I know from experience they are no darn good.I did a short stint with them,4 months and that was enough.As for workers comp.,all states are different on their rules.Back when I was working in a union shop,I was a workers comp. representitive for the union.That was in the state of Ohio,which has one of the better workers comp systems in the country. In your situation,you can always get a lawyer and fight them on this issue.If you know you are right,it would be a good idea. |

And I would assume that this document probably does NOT say no work, but rather to remove from driving and is allowing light duty work. *shrug*

Yeah it would make a difference on just how the Doc worded it for his situation.... if doc said no driving but everything else is good then I'd rather do everything else than sit around... I think I might have worded my post a little wrong.. I was trying to say that if what the employer is requesting is more than what the doc says a can do.. In my case I currently do property maintenance (plumbing,painting,electrical etc....) so even some of the most simple stupid tasks were more than what the doc had okayed for me |

| Light duty can cover a lot of things. Answering phones, or other office tasks, sweeping the floor. I know one terminal a few years back where the light duty person was in charge of grilling lunch for everybody. |
| ||||
| I have seen a light duty guy at the gate looking for lights out on trucks nd trailers, just telling drivers what light were not working! |
| ||||
| With Swift, and the terminals I used to go into..light duty generally meant filing, answering phones, or working the security gate. The only up side for this was the fact that if you wanted to consider an office position, D/M, safety, or just some way in..this is a way for you to find out if you can get by doing it (I am not an office type, need to be outside), and it can show a supervisor that you have the ability, maybe the propensity for the job. But the "pay" they offer is definitely a deal breaker in my book>
