    Interstate Distributors

ok, my hubby was recently fired from interstate....he refused to drive past 11 hours to get the load there on time and they knew this.......they freakin knew......now hes getting bad references from them! What can we do? Are there companies that dont care if a crappy company fired you?

Is that the whole story? Did he commit to an on time delivery and then change mid-stream? Was he goofing off in the game room at the truck stop playing pin ball?

I'm certain there's more to the story. Interstate is becoming one of the "big nasty's" but I really doubt they just arbitrarily fire people without cause.

Well the OP did not say they fired him without cause.

....he refused to drive past 11 hours to get the load there on time
As a former driver for IDC x 2 I can tell you that this company was excellent in every area except 1. That area would be dispatching you on loads with the hours to get it there on time on about 1 out of 3 loads.

My very first load at IDC was a team load to a Kohl's DC in Kansas, even though I was hired to run 11 western. The mantra was - "do the best that you can" which at IDC was code for throw that log book in the bunk and hammer down.

Countless loads are pu by local drivers and dropped in the yard to be forgotten about till they are either impossible to deliver legally or require you to put the pedal to the metal with your only break if you where lucky was a 8 hr sleep over in Redding and a fuel stop in Orland between Tacoma and LA.

Now to be fair some loads you can get them to reschedule which usually means you will be sitting around for a day to deliver at the new appt time but I usually just rolled up my sleeves and got er done, which is what they prefer. And how you get decent miles at IDC.

I question any ones rep if they think they can get away with telling IDC dispatch that they can't get er done and still get decent miles as a result. OTR companies don't need to tell you to run illegal. They just kick to the curb or starve out those who can't or won't make their job a breeze. The customer, not the driver is their concern.

It's funny that at some companies it's the opposite, the company I drive for is very hawkish on tracking 14 hr violations with the QC. You'll get a message and if you don't get stopped soon they will call you, day or night. However, there is a magic word that will make the bad man on the phone go away....

    the word is "IKEA"
